I know that there are probably tons of threads on this, but after lurking on here for a few months, I wanted to get an updated list. Some of you probably have owned multiple Taycans with different specs in each car. Here's what I'm looking for:

4S with PB+
2+1 seating just in case
ACC would be ideal (I read some people are able to retrofit this as long as their car already has ALK?)
Front and Rear Heating
Premium Package
On board 150kW charger
Sport Chrono Package would be nice (retrofit possible?)

I'm thinking of either getting a CPO or a cheaper Used and just add the Porsche Extended Warranty.

What are your thoughts? Are there specs you can't live without? Are any of the ones I mentioned not a deal breaker? I want to make this my DD and I want to keep it for a long time. I just test drove one that was around 48K but it had some issues, but it drove like a dream. Loved it!

Recently purchased a 23 CPO. That list looks like a similar one that I had. while I do miss having ACC like my last vehicle I don't go on long trips often that I would use it.

The 2+1 I’ve already used to fit 5 ppl as long as one is a child in the middle sea. Not sure an adult would fit there. Fits baby seats/ boosters well.

The 150kw is nice but I hardly use it as its always charged up from home.

There is a how to on this forum to retrofit the sport chrono.
I added an extra year/ Unl miles past the cpo for $2800 just for piece of mind.

I think your list is spot on and I haven’t felt I missed out on anything from what you are looking for.

For a cold climate daily driver heated steering wheel is nice to have (separate option from the heated seats).

Mine would be also similar:

Must
- PB+
- 2+1 seats in the back
- heat pump (better energy use)
- heated seats in front

Optional
- Sport Chrono
- heated steeringwheel
- 22 kW onboard charger (11 kW is standard)
- Adjustable (sport) seats
- glass roof (required to put roof-rack on)
- PASM
- Bose or Burmester
- double glass silent windows
- seat memory

Doesn’t the Heat Pump come standard? I also thought the on board charger is 9.6 kW

I think heat pump was not standard for early models. But I might be wrong.

Onboard charger is most likely rated 9.6 kW in US, and 11/22 kW in Europe. I'm in Europe and the 22kW faster one was an option for first gen. I believe :)

We have all of these options on our ‘21 CPO 4S and would not want to give them up:

1. Performance plus battery for longer range, faster charging and faster acceleration

2. 150 kW/400V DC on-board charger for faster charging

3. Heated seats and ventilated seats

4. Adaptive Air Suspension for adjustable ride height while driving and extra clearance when you need it.

5. Rear-axle steering for better cornering and tighter turn radius in parking lots.

6. ParkAssist including Surround View, to make parking and reversing much easier.

7. Thermally & Noise Insulated Glass, mostly for the noise reduction, although the thermal protection could be important depending on where you are.

OP - This list is good, and is similar to my 4s build. However, I do fine without Rear-axle Steering and don't notice any turning radius issues (it already turns on a dime).

A few things I would add as a "must have" for me include --
  • 14-way seats -- They are more comfortable than the 18-way seats IMO.
  • ACC & ALK -- I live in a city, so I use these frequently.
  • Heated & Ventilated Seats

Good luck and keep us posted on your final decision.

PB+ is a no brainer. I would not want to deal with the range of the regular battery.

Onboard 400V charger I think is also a must. charging infrastructure is just not consistent and reliable enough to assume you will always have an 800V charger on a road trip. In the area around Houston for example, your options for 800V charging are few and far between. I mostly charge at home so this rarely matters, but I've taken my cars on 900+ mile road trips and had my share of annoying charging experiences that would've been much worse if I could only use 800V for a decent charging speed.

ACC and ALK for sure. If you ever have to drive in traffic, especially stop and go, it is just a huge sanity saver. Just resting a hand on the wheel I've had this comfortably drive me through 9-10 miles of stop and go rush hour traffic. I find the system to be pretty reliable and to turn and brake in a manner that is far more human than in my older 2015 Macan S for example. I have innodrive as well which maybe makes it a bit more nuanced in doing that, I can't say I know for sure, that is just the impression I have. If you hate ALK on this car then you should learn to use your turn signals.

I have done CPO with an extra year on both used Taycans I've bought (a 4S and Turbo)

22kW charger seems to be a bad option since the odds you have a >50A charger at home are low, and they are a common failure complaint here.

I have the noise insulating glass but have never driven a Taycan without it so YMMV, but I like the calmer noise environment and would probably aim for this. If I want something that snarls and burbles and whatever I'll go drive my 911 Turbo.

I rely on the air suspension lift mode for two different driveways I frequent - to give me a margin of error/comfort so I'd want that.

IMO, 400V DC is a must.
I wish I had gotten Sport Chrono in my 4S. There is a noticeable lag on acceleration in normal mode before the downshift. I wrongly assumed that SC did not do as much with an EV than with an ICE car.

Hrm. There's no downshifting outside of normal mode, the car will be in first gear for as long as it can (higher in Sport+). If that's what you mean...?
