I was in my local Porsche centre yesterday for a 12V issue and I asked about the navigation problems and they said they were very aware of the issue and had been informed by Porsche to expect a fix in June……..

Edinburgh Porsche came back to me yesterday: they have had two similar cases. One was fixed with a software update, the other is now the subject of a ticket to Porsche AG Technical so I am waiting to hear.

It's funny how every Porsche center says something different, almost like there is no official info on this from Porsche central.

If Porsche had any fix scheduled for June they would have released a TI to tell services the problem exists, the solution is not available yet - see the camera recall TI as the latest example of that.

Until you see a TI from porsche, it's all sweet little lies to keep the fools out of lawyer offices.

Doesn't happen on PCM 4360 / j1.2, no.

The update is 6h minimum. They won't do 500$ - 600$ an hour (standard porsche service rate) for 150.000 cars, 6 hours each. They can't afford to anymore, it's 540,000,000$; and that's assuming no part breaks and that services don't claim more hours than 6 worked.
If they had implemented the system better, they could have update ALL cars over the air, OR USB stick. People could do it themselves at zero recurring expense to the company.

I’m scheduled to visit the store tomorrow for a PCM replacement. I hope this is the solution or at least a temporary fix before the update arrives.

Last year, we heard rumors about the BMS update that began in November and finally received it in July. Hopefully, this time, the engineers will work diligently and release the patch asap. We all need the fix before the summer roadtrips.

Ask for part numbers of outgoing part and new part being put in place. Useful to know what they are putting in - curious if they are putting in brand spanking new (MY26 part).

yes it’s summer road trips that are worrying me - I’ve got multiple 1000+ mile trips booked and while CarPlay is ok it’s hard navigating cities when the map is only on the middle screen

Absolutely, another missing feature that you don’t realise you’re going to miss, even our VAG group VW ID.3 shows Apple Maps turns etc on the HUD and binnacle. Is the J1.2 better with Carplay with this sort of thing?

PCM 4360 does bring turn by turn directions from 3rd party maps to the right "circle" of the HUD.
Again, it's just gate kept due to no software update porsche policy :) Its one of many software features that we don't get because porsche wants to save money :D

They are not.

There are 3 variants for EU:
9J1 035 070 CE - until 30.06.2024 (J1.1). Superseeded by 9J1 035 070 DD.
9J1 035 070 DD - 01.07.2024 to 24.11.2024. First half MY25 J1.2 (and also used on J1.1 replacement). Current part.
9J1 035 070 DE - 25.11.2024 to 15.05.2025. Second half MY25 J1.2. Current part.
9J1 035 041 C - from 16.06.2025. MY26 J1.2. Current part.

Porsche themselves state that MY26 PCM has significant hardware upgrades:
Thanks to new hardware, the PCM system is now more responsive. As well as greater computing power, it offers additional capabilities, such as direct access to a large number of third-party apps for native use directly in the PCM.

The part number has also completely changed. As I have said previously, the responsiveness of the MY26 PCM is on a completely other level compared to the MY25 and earlier variants, I am quite sure it's not just software optimizations, but also more compute.

For me this means I go from "CE" to "DD"?

Probably, knowing Porsche.

No real reason why they couldn't go to C I suspect. Other than them continuing to think people will upgrade to a J1.2 if they don't allow it.

Hard to understand. The J1.2 comes with its own real advantages like more efficency, the bigger battery, faster charging, maybe the new suspension. Lots of hard Engineering, very good reasons to upgrade. Nobody would upgrade just because the better PCM with subfeatures like better Charging planning.

I would be more than happy if they just fix those things that aren‘t working or simply were an optimistic approach or show more transparency on what is going on (charging) or what went wrong (charging) or give me more convenience (charging).

My ’21 PCM hardware is BF so I guess if that’s eventually swapped out for a DD that's a couple of revisions. It’s in soon but seems we go through the system reset/3885 step first and take it back after a little while. Good luck @Jasper4S

And with that being said, there are still 0 good reasons why they couldn't just install the new computer - say like Lucid, Tesla, Volvo, VW or BMW do.

I'm still holding out hope for a miracle, you know 😂
