I think they are forecasting temperatures above 10c on the 28th and 29th July for the Scottish 'summer' this year. ?
That will be the official range test days for our Scottish friends? ?

Real world:

45 degree weather. Range guesstimate at 85% charge was 217

Drove kids to school and to workout, in town driving.
Drove on Tollway, 85-95 mph for 30 miles, then 65 mph for 25 miles.
Back on highway 65 mph for 25 miles, back on Tollway at 80-90 mph for 30 miles.
Then in town driving to office and then Target (Electrify America station).

My REAL WORLD ACTUAL MILEAGE 150.9 miles.

I babied this car in an attempt to hyper mile it. at 100% charge, weather in the upper 60's, all in town driving.

REAL WORLD MILEAGE 214 miles.

90 mph CRUSHES range. It's just physics. I never got more than 17mpg from my Macan Turbo either. If you wanna have fun, you're not gonna get anywhere near the rating. It is what it is - you get to decide if you can live with it or want to get rid of it for a different car.

you should be able to complete that trip with miles to spare regardless of the speed or weather. what is impractical?

Today, 55 degrees. 85% charge, guesstimate was 210 miles.

I did mostly highway and some in town driving. Already 150 miles in today and showing 47 miles of range.

197@ 85% charge. That would be 232 miles @ 100%

This morning it was 19C/66F in my garage and the freshly charged Taycan showed 252 miles at 80% SoC, which would translate into 315 miles at 100% SoC. The only problem with the temperatures becoming milder is that the cicadas will soon erupt in New Jersey.

Porsche Taycan Taycan 4S gets 323 mile real world range in Edmunds EV range test! 10May2021

How was your driving style before this? I don't think there has ever been a properly documented 300+ mile Taycan range test posted at highway speeds. It would be fantastic to hit 300+.

I'm looking forward to testing highway range. I have a great change in S. Florida climate and flat land. (RWD P+ battery)

Hi @JimBob , I think @feye has already documented 300+ miles range (I forget how much highway was included) and maybe other forum members as well, so it is certainly feasible without driving granny-style. My own recent driving style and conditions have some pluses and some minuses for range. On the plus-side: * only 15-20% of my miles are on the highway at more than 70 mph, * typically in Normal mode, seldom in Sport, * never Launch Mode. On the negative side: * 50% of my miles are short drive-to-the store trips with a cold battery, * I do like the feeling of being pushed back in my seat while accelerating, * seldom Range mode. So, no hypermiling but no 90 mph cruising, rocket launches or competition-style braking either. It all depends on how you define highway speed. I believe 300+ miles are feasible in the summer at 70 mph but maybe not at 80+ mph.

All of these involve driving with substantial time spent at lower driving speeds. The highest reported highway tests (~70 mph) appear to be:

Taycan 2021 RWD 293.3 miles, temperature 69F by InsideEVs US, tire size not indicated.
Taycan 2020 4S 277.9 miles, temperature 75-80 by insideEVs US, tire size 21 inch

The 4S test should be beatable. 21 inch is the least efficient tire size and the temperatures are a little warm based on Porsche's statement that 68F is the optimum temperature.

Whether the RWD drive is beatable is debatable. The temperature appears optimal so can the 4S in range mode beat a RWD under the same conditions.

They did 2 tests. The videos show what wheels the cars had. 1 had base 19" and one 20".

This guy got 295 miles out of a Taycan Turbo on 20” wheels at 70 mph:

I can think of somethings worse.

Driving down the highway at the 70 limit and getting swiped by someone doing 90 mph.

Walking along the side of the road and having someone stomp on the accelerator, lose control and kill me.
