I would chalk it up to being lucky, the guess o meter is not very accurate, I was on a trip home and I needed to stop but my preferred stop was 87 miles away and I showed 87 miles. I found a charger that was closer, charged there and made it home without needing to white knuckle the drive.I had a nerve-wracking experience yesterday. Long story short, range showed 18mi in Normal mode and nearest functional fast charger was 17mi away. I had a client waiting for me at work, otherwise I'd have taken a safer approach.
I switched to Range mode and had 10mi left while 10mi away from charger. Things got very tense when it went to 3mi while 5mi away and then all of a sudden the range showed "--". I was about 4mi away and bricking it.
I continued on, praying the chargers would be free. They were, and my functionality was unaffected. So it seems like, just as with an ICE vehicle, there is an in-built buffer. I don't plan on "testing" this again!
I had my model 3 run another 8-10 miles in slow traffic after 0%.I'd be willing to bet my 'due shortly' 4S on it that it behaves like most other electric cars. You can drive to zero without any issues. Even at zero there is still charge in reserve. Its not really zero! I've taken one of our company i3's to 5 miles below zero and it still ran fine.
Apparently a model S can do 10-20 miles on zero. I would expect the Taycan to go into reduced a reduced power mode. But it definitely wont just grind to a halt at when it hits 0%!

There is a video on you tube of the Tycan losing all charge and limping to a charger so maybe a few miles after 0% who really knows?
I went 4mi over but turtle mode never came on.I've gone 3 miles past zero. Anyone go further?
The GOM was pretty accurate to the end. Once it hit zero the turtle came on and acceleration was limited. I was still able to maintain 55mph on the freeway and in town accelerating up to 45mph no problem, just a little slow. My fear was that I'd impede traffic once in turtle mode but it wasn't a problem.
I have survived 1% charge. At 0% you should more or less immediately lose power, it's certainly not like a gas car hitting "empty" and you should regard hitting 0% as the car immediately dying. I'd wager there's a decent chance the car will actually die at 1% or 2%, even, and generally taking it below 5% is going to be a very bad idea.
Really?I have survived 1% charge.
The car will complain a lot and will stop at 0%. Power on after a few minutes and you might be able to move a little.
