woo-hoo

let's celebrate ?

one year has passed without my 4S Trashcan.

8 months in warranty repair. the rest waiting the Consumer Disputes Board to evaluate if this kind of repair time is just normal with modern cars.

this wait for decision won't be over soon. 8 - 14 months..

what a special user experience

Certainly, 8 months of warranty repairs is a joke, and most likely the dealer had no clue what they were doing (and shouldn’t have handled it). The 8-14 months for a decision from the Consumer Disputes Board is the second joke and a national disgrace. It’s about time for them to put down the (excessive) drinks, sober up, and get to work.

’For your celebration.

Unbelievable to hear this story from a brand like Porsche. I could believe this could happen with an obscure brand, but not a prestige brand like Porsche. And for a car costing about 100.000 Euros.

Have you tried to get in touch with some motoring magazines or journalists in Finland to share the story?

I would and I would also get some lawyers engaged. That car is Not fit for Purpose.

If only the Trashcan did not drive as well as it does!

In the US there are lemon laws, which work faster than a year to force the manufacturer to buy the car back. Of course there are also private lawsuits one can file, though those can take longer. Are there other avenues available to you in your country, other than waiting 8-14 months on the government bureaucracy, or in case you find out in 14 months that they side with Porsche on this?

Finland is flawed in this regard.

You have two choices - consumer board, which is free of charge, but processing time is about 1-2years and their decision is not binding, you still have to go to court if a seller refuses to follow their advice. The second choice is going to court bypassing the consumer board. But there is a catch! The waiting time there is another 1.5 years. You basically wait extremely long time with no prospects of winning in a timely manner. It mustn’t work like that, but it is what it is.

I am also in such a situation as the topic starter with BMW that I bought after Taycan. It has been 4 months since I own this 1 year old car and I’ve never used it (just a couple of weeks). It has an electrical fault which bmw is unable to diagnose. Trying to work with an attorney to return the car to the seller, but they don’t give a shit about that as they know the situation in Finland is very bad when you go to court. And if they fix the car, you have small chances of winning and you still pay the bill of your attorney and the opposing party’s one

Well - RIM23 - you just explained the situation perfectly. Since being 8 months in various repairs the Trashcan has been now ca. 6 months in stable.
Meanwhile the selling company Amcap Oy seems to have disappeared from Finnish market and only their Swedish managers listed in company register.
There's not much consumer rights here in reality.
Meanwhile my task is to remind Porsche about the situation in their overly arrogant LinkedIn hype news as comments from the real life user. At least my LI contacts are entertained!

At least, you've been given another Taycan as a courtesy car. In my case, I was first given a Kia, then Volvo, then another Volvo, and now Nissan (they have a contract with Hertz, who don't have any electric BMWs). 4 visits to the service in total with the 4th still ongoing with a couple of days in between when I could use that BMW.

Of the 8 months in repair:
1 month without any replacement car
3 months with Audi A3 - which had smaller engine than my bike..
4,5 months Taycan Base. Very tail-happy with winter tires during summer(mostly)
6 months without replacement while waiting the consumer disputes board 'recommendation'

In my case the 'local' Porsche service happens to be 260 km away so every visit took the whole work day and during winter with the bad battery cell's I barely finished the trip without charging.

Oh my. I’m sorry. I had impression you had been using Taycan at least.

By the way, has the consumer board issued any recommendations so far?

In my case, I’ve been able to get ix3 for myself from the bmw dealer. In the meantime, my attorney has been trying to speak to the seller and negotiate the return of the car. It has already been 3 weeks, but they always refuse. The attorney suggests to wait more…. However I’m not sure what shall I wait for?
