Sorry I don't have a photo of what's under the hood - I took it to a specialist Porsche garage and they did it for me. What I can show you is the exit point they chose. They also had me get the version of the Ctek connector that has an in-line fuse between socket and battery, to be extra careful. The socket is attached with cable ties so it can't fly up and hit the wipers. (This is a RHD car, the connection will be on the other side in a LHD car I believe.)

I had the 12V battery empty issue this morning after car being idle for +-10 days. Some cold nights (-2 to -4 degrees Celcius)

i have one of those CTEK connectors on my track Elise. The other end of the wire has some ring connectors that can be connected to the bolt that typically holds the battery connectors to the battery itself.

Quick question for folks with CTEK maintainers: it ok to connect the CTEK when the car is also plugged into a EVSE to charge the HV battery? How does the CTEK handle the car deciding to charge the battery from the HV battery? Perhaps this does not occur because the voltage on the 12V battery is too high

You need the Lithium version of the CTEK to work with the Taycan 12 V. If that is what you have then it just works without any problem.
I use the crocodile clips as have not worked out how to fit the ring connectors to the positive on the Taycan yet (easy to fit negative).

It’s on the negative terminal on the battery. Not sure it works via the cigarette lighter socket, which is why they supply it with crocodile clips.

On other Porsches the socket 'knows' the difference between drain and supply so leaves the socket 'on'.'dile clips are standard, the socket plug is an additional accessory.

Does not work via cigarette lighter socket on Taycan.
How have you fitted the positive or is it just a friction fit ?

Can you access this plug with the bonnet closed?

I would like to have access to plug in the charger without needing to open the bonnet via emergency key etc if the 12 volt battery goes flat.

No, it’s a fabricated copper clamp attached to the positive pole

No, I didn’t want access from the outside. The charger terminal location enables quick access once the bonnet is open, without removing the plastic cover piece.

I’ve had 2 incidents where the 12v ran down. The AA/Porsche Recovery got me going the first time, the second I did it myself. But I can now quickly plug in the Ctek in the garage when we go away.

I did wonder if the 12v socket is recommended for trickle charging - I thought it wasn't but can't find a reference to it.

Same problem as yours. 12V empty after not driving much. Had to call Porsche assist and had almost the same issue a few weeks later. I bought a 12V charger and topped the battery. Everything fine for now...
