based on this all fast charging support should be optional since you've never used it.
I can’t answer that.

What I can answer is that if it was optional, I wouldn’t option it.

I have always stated this was a no-brainer $460 option - but other's disagreed.
We have around 34 open to non-Tesla Supercharger sites here on our small island. Of those currently 7 are V4 and that will keep growing as pretty much all newly planned Tesla sites are now V4 here.

They are by some margin the cheapest public ultrafast charging provider here, outside of the 30p / kWh we pay as Porsche owners on the IONITY network.

Glad I ticked the box for £300 odd here on the Taycan. For me too it's been a no brainer.

Me too. I haven’t used it yet but not expensive and extended flexibility.
Quite frankly it should've been standard fit in my opinion.

There's a small cost uplift, but a huge usability gain with compatibility to "large, well established 400V-only" charging providers

I also optioned the 400V option against the prevailing opinion at the time (MY22, November 2021 delivery). It was pretty gratifying to eventually be able to hit 150kW on a Tesla Supercharger that opened up to CCS charging near my in-laws home which is situated in an otherwise EV charging desert.

@W1NGE Is it confirmed somewhere that a future Taycan refresh will use PPE vs the J1 platform? I thought that it was going to be for Macan, Cayenne, Cayenne 'XL' but not for the sports and sports sedan cars.

I doubt it very much. PPE is a high ground clearance vehicle platform. The opposite requirement for current or future Taycans

PPE will be used for the electric 718, and an Audi A6. It is NOT a high ground clearance vehicle platform! Taycan stays on J1 and might shift to the successor of PPE with Gen2.

I'm only guessing

Hey, it’s been a few years, do we still not have an option to retrofit the 150kW booster? My CPO didn’t have it, and when I asked the sales rep what I was missing by not having it, they said it wasn’t a big deal because there are way more fast charger options now.

new "full v4" tesla superchargers are coming online or in the works, i tested my Audi that doesn't have a booster and confirmed it works at 800v just like the other 800v chargers are supposed to, so no need for booster.. just need to wait for Tesla to build the right sites.
Also Walmart and Ionna are pushing hard on their EV stations, both are using the Alpitronic 800v equipment, Tesla is legacy and expensive for non teslas...

If you want to track the tesla deployment use this link and filter to v4 500kW

in Austin it looks like there is one in development - https://www.tesla.com/findus?bounds...8492015887996,-98.61654959375&location=459688
