Perhaps they meant the “sound” was based on an actual motor. My experienced Porsche technician said, “It has a module for the sound, it's not mic'ed. They sampled a motor to make the sound, it's not recorded from the car live.. everything is from the module sound symposer module.” Check out this Audi video. . At about 5:30, they are developing the sound profile template using a stand-alone accelerator pedal.
Good to know! Very good info - thank you.

also Porsche has reviewed the data disclosure rules for Android Auto and they’ve decided not to deliver vehicle performance data to Google in the quantity and details stipulated by the Android Auto agreements...so it’s both market share and the data disclosure requirements that keep Porsche from supporting Android Auto.

one article I read said it’s basically a live telemetry dump of ODBII data stream about all aspects of a vehicle - since performance is Porsche’s thing - I believe they decided not to provide google with a free data stream documenting the performance of their vehicle fleet along with all their customers…

Hi Luke, this morning after a short errand of normal city driving 10 miles or so, after returning home there was a really strong moth ball like smell coming from my right front vent, near the wheel. I have the 21” Mission E wheels with the ceramic brakes. Any idea what that would be or if it’s an issue? It doesn’t seem to come from the left side, only the right. Thanks for any guidance.
Hey Sue!

Not sure what this could be.... Moth balls what a strange smell.

I would bring the car by your local Porsche Dealership sometime if the smell persists and see if they can replace the cabin air filter under warranty for you.

Are there verbal commands to say that will automatically change the air conditioning settings from "focused" to "diffuse"
I have not tried the assistant on this yet - but pretty sure she can do it and if she can't now hopefully in a future software update!

@LukeManning, I notice that when I park and turn the car off, there are a series of sounds/noises that occur over time, which I assume are normal behavior. It seems like the car is methodically disengaging and putting things away in some sort of sequence. I'm curious if you or your techs know what the car does in the several minutes that follow a power-off?
It does quite a few things actually.

For starters if you've been running the car hard, it will use fans to cool down the battery pack to an optimal charging temperature. The fluid in the battery pack also continues to cycle through the tubing around the battery pack.

The car also deflates the air bladders for the suspension so that it isn't sitting with them inflated while the car sits.

The system does a sort of "memory dump" that my technicians have said makes a strange whirring down sound.

All normal sounds and part of an electric car! I remember when I used to work for Tesla and would be in the store late at night and would start hearing the cars do these things - kind of freaky sometimes!

Yes, it is an option on the option list so it will still be part of the price of the car that dealerships are trying to sell for.

That being said, at this point of the year you should be able to have some concession on a MY20' Taycan purchase.

Hope this helps!
Thanks, it is not a big deal in the scope of the car’s total price but a small irritant nevertheless that a 2020 obligatory option now comes free in 2021. And it is not even a great charger...

I have my MY2021 order and compared it to my previous MY2020 in Canada. All of the options are the same price except the charger. Although the charger is now a “free” option, the base price of the care increases by the amount of the charger. My dealer is really transparent and pointed this out before I even got the spec sheet.

The air compressor kit is also free in MY21. Standard equipment now.

WOW!!!.......this is encouraging, please let us know if you try it again at another time without plugging it in first
Also, did you add the HeadUp Display and if so can you share some photos?
EXCITING if true
I used the car again a couple more times last night and yes Carplay still working wirelessly. One time I had to press and hold the voice command button on the steering wheel to make it connect, the other it connected straight away when I got in the car.

My car doesn't have the HUD. I'll get PCM software version later.

Sorry for the late reply! Was on a little vacation.

This is AWESOME news. Super glad to hear this.

Hopefully can retro this to MY20" cars - although I highly doubt it since they didn't do that for Cayenne or Macan either...
That's really disappointing to hear that they have already given up on their original flagship model and just moved on. Is it really that hard to retrofit what sounds like software modification only?

I think it will be a s/w update. Porsche just announced some other Apple related integration updates for MY21 and they clearly state it will also roll out to MY20 from January onwards. I think things like this will eventually roll down...

Hi @LukeManning

I was reading from a FB groups post that their Porsche dealership has the ability to lower the "low" setting even more by software alone. This subsequently will make all other settings lower as well.

That being said, I just came back from my local dealership today and they had no clue about this software command and couldn't assist me with it. Just wondering if you have any idea what this entails? I'm sure it wasn't fake, maybe only certain dealerships know about it? Thanks for your help
