I wonder if installing an aftermarket sound system would somehow void warranty?

(Still hoping that my impending build will receive the Bose it’s meant to have.)

I highlighted that concern earlier in the thread.

'Not sure' is the answer and would ultimately depend on the warranty issue at hand.

I would also worry re the wiring / cabling changes given the subtleties of an EV vs an ICE vehicle and the attendant risk(s) involved. Incorrectly installed electrical kit in an EV car leading to 12V drain issues might be a tricky warranty claim for example.

Some folk aren't as paranoid about these things but unless it came from the factory I wouldn't meddle. If the car is out of Porsche warranty then I might review.

I have always been suspicious of multiple drivers in ear buds. How are they integrated and since a crossover network in a speaker is bigger than a book how do they include an adequate one inside such a small thing?

A mystery!
Personally I now only listen to ear buds rarely and since also in a noisy environment like bus or train I now use wireless ones for the convenience rather than the super high quality ones I useds when I was on a 'plane for work every week :)
The more expensive ones have 8 drivers, including BA, DD, electrostatic + a bone conduction driver.

Perhaps it is marketing BS, but they are huge step up on my previous 5 BA driver IEMs and I am now relistening to all my music for the new "things" I can now hear.

And yes, they are quite big, especially with my small ears/ear canals, but fine for home listening. Not practical for travel.

The other pair are literally 1 BA, 1 DD with - uniquely - no crossover in a special ceramic shell to reduce vibrations/improve sound quality. Travel friendly and they don't protrude out of my ears.

They too are surprisingly good and I would rank better than my older 5 BA driver IEMs.

You do need to pair them with good cables, which can also seem obscene spending £200 on some copper wire, but then much of this I now purchase from China, where Chi-Fi is becoming a real thing. Incredible audio equipment at significantly lower cost compared to major Western brands.

I have not checked out Chinese brand speaker/amp equipment, but I hazard guess what would cost £30k in a B&W Nautilus can probably be had for £5k + 20% import costs buying from an "obscure" Chinese brand.

Possibly, check with your dealer.

I was looking into an aftermarket audio system where I was considering buying a cancelled order EV this summer, which had the base sound system.

I will save you some research time: https://www.audiotec-fischer.de/en/match/amplifiers/up-7dsp

The above is considered best in class within its price range, and is likely compatible with your Taycan, though you should DYOR.

It is the amp and not so much the speakers that make the most drastic improvement to car audio. So you could get away with installing an amp and leave the base speakers as is.

Could possibly end up sounding better than the Bose...

What do you mean by « orders ». If your configuration is locked in it’s ok. My build should start in December (not locked in yet) and he told me it would be without Bose and it’s for CT 4S.
Probably that the turbo, GTS, turbo S are not affected?

This is concerning, as I might not go through with my '23 4S CT without Bose. But, no such notice so far on my car. It locked last week, BTW.

It locked once at the beginning of September, then unlocked in mid-September, then locked again last week. No changes to the build during this time.

My sales exec advised that its only base models effected in the UK for the moment.
Mine too, I've got a 4S CT that's going to build on 10th Oct - I've been told that only RWD & CT4 cannot have Bose to protect suppliers. However, time will tell.

No idea. I just checked TYD, and status is today unavailable - was phase 2 yesterday. Hope this means it is about to start production and the web page is updating.
