The only common problem I've seen with the electronic charge port is it will automatically close on the DC flap if you forget to close the flap.
You mean the automatic closing flap system doesn't either open or close the DC charging bit? Not really an automatic system at all then is it?

I am even more full of contempt for it. now
I charge my Plug-in Hybrid most days and just open/close the door with one hand and plug in/release with the other

It’s just spring closed and locks in the open position if opened fully.

Like any manual port.

But why have a port claiming to be electrically opening/closing when it only part of it is?

That's bummer, totally unacceptable for them to drag their feet on something that is well known (similar to the alarm issue). How are you doing the 120 mile round trip without charge?
It was only one way in the Taycan - back in the Cayenne loan car.
