I think most Porsche owners that do what you've proposed use vinyl tape of some sort. Something like a 3M 1080 vinyl.

Yep vinyl - super simple mod and literally a few dollars to complete Was quite skeptical when I initially saw some early posts but TBH looks pretty darn good in car!

The color I got matches the darker red stripe in the dash area above the hazard button which works for me (could not find an exact match of red leather itself but again this match makes sense imo):

Added bonus of this pic is (as in a prior post) how cool is the NightVision that it picks up the thermal difference between my studs behind the garage drywall - Taycan literally sees through walls !

I guess what's nice about the vinyl is that it is 100% removable/reversible If you stretch it just right when installing it really does 'blend' into the wheel and TBH looks like red leather.

I used Oracal 631 matte vinyl.

Super cheap, can get it at Michael's.

I found the "Dark Blue" color was closest to Gentian Blue exterior
(Oracal 631-050)
