You'll find that this thread is under the UK region and this is what forum members are experiencing in their local region. Availability, pricing, etc are regional with occasional commonality.

US also has regional differences. What you see in Chicago isn't the same for the bay area vs. any other city in the states.
I can vouch for the Bay Area that I can walk into at least a couple of different Porsche dealers and order a Taycan via an allocation available, spec it - just like the good ole days.

Yup, and there are some cars on lots for sale as well, which was not the case six months ago.

I expect that the days of negotiating discounts will be back as well.

It's absolutely amazing how quickly things have completely changed.

Its like everything over the last few (Covid) years.
Normal.... Sharp swing up..... Sharp swing down.... Now getting back to normal.

Its the pace of change (globally) that's really interesting to me.

On a side issue, it also appears that people may have been over pessimistic about the economy.
Where I Iive, bars and restaurants are full, people are booking holidays etc.

Inflation looks likely to have peaked and may half this year. Central banks are unlikely to increase rates as much as expected (and then reduce them quickly). Equities are recovering.
It's a lot rosier than was forecast only in December.

Sorry... Off topic.

It’s not really off topic at all. You’re bang on topic.

I think with a *relatively* low volume manufacturer the difference between a 12+ month wait and a surplus is a very fine balance. So it flips quickly from one to the other.

It’s more tuneable as the cars are generally built to order, with a very small stock pool though.

As a car manufacturer goes from niche player to mass volume manufacturer - like Tesla has in recent history - the control levers change, and the stock pool is controlled by price and discounts.

Porsche will always control the stock pool with supply.
