To my knowledge the only difference is the age and longevity of the battery because the 2020 get the same software updates as the 2023. The miles on the battery I understand but I’ve been told that the older Taycan is like buying an old computer. I’m not buying that with all Taycans sharing the same software updates. Any insight would be appreciated. Thank you!

I have a 2021 and last year drove a 2023 Taycan loaner. I noticed a couple differences -- the doors were noticeably heavier in the 2023 (probably for rattle issues) and the memory buttons for seat positions were matte instead of piano black. There are probably some other minor differences but those are 2 that I immediately noticed.

There are no major differences between a 2020 and 2023 car.

The 2020 will only have plug and charge if you have the 22 kW AC optionI believe. There was some issue with the certificate in the charging system else. And 2020 will not be able to open and close remotely via app. There might also be some difference in the main battery chemistry, but that I think is uncertain. There may be some further refinements in the electronicsto give a better efficiency overall.

If you get a car like the Turbo with the big brakes you will have a 10 pot calliper.

My local (Silver Spring MD) has ONE certified Taycan tech.

I spent 45 minutes with him recently reviewing my 23 Taycan

He said there are many small incremental changes year to year - no one big thing.

he gets detailed instructions with each new model year of continual improvements

I have no more details to share, but I suspect it’s more than the color of switches

Older PCM hardware. I’ve noticed the speed of the touchscreen much slower in my first taycan vs my new one now.

There is no difference in the battery longevity, range or chemistry. They did change the pouch material, so it may be more reliable.

Another change I’ve noticed is that the Body panel gaps are improved. I have a 2020 Taycan Turbo S. Compared to the neighbors 2023 Taycan, the body panel gaps around the doors and rear trunk area improved with tighter specs. Have read about PCM hardware revisions but no major difference and still backward compared to Tesla or Lotus.

There was an infotainment hardware (MCU) upgrade in 2021/2022 I believe.

As some have mentioned, 2020 does not have plug and charge, no HUD option, massage seats I don't think were an option, no power folding mirrors, PCM looks the same but the 23 or 24 have a newer PCM that is more responsive. Not sure if this was changed but the 2020-21 Carbon ceramic brakes are 10 pistons.

None of this is true tho?
2020 with 22kw charger does have plug and charge; hud options are identical; massage seats were an option (this depends on market), power folding mirrors are an option that is avalible on 2020, PCM is same interface and runs on same hardware. The brakes are also the same.

Only difference between 2020 and 2024 is that you can't lock/unlock from phone app.

Is there currently a better buy/vehicle than a used low mile Taycan turbo in the 73-75k range? I would say no…. What say you
