What's weird is I have a setting to enable Plug and Charge... probably needs final updates to actually work though. I have another road trip this weekend, so I'll see if anything has changed...

https://www.yahoo.com/finance/news/electrify-america-ev-charging-payments-191652222.html

lists MY 2021 Taycan’s as being compatible - I’d love confirmation that this will be a software update MY’2020
If you look at the Charge NA app under "My Vehicles", it does say the "Plug and Charhge: Enabled"

Edit...

also, I just tried it and it didn’t work. However, right after I plugged in I got this screen which I don’t remember seeing before (but I am old, so who knows?!).

it paused on this screen with the circle going around for a while then brought me to the familiar payment screen.

does anyone remember this step before?

I understand it’s enabled - but I’m still not sure if it will actually work…

If the functionality only works for model year 2021, then our existing Taycan's won't work unless we get some update from Porsche. Since the EA charging station doesn't know which car is plugged in, what @Reg experienced is probably just the charging station trying to test if the car is compatible or not, then falling back to the old payment method.

I expect we'll be getting a whole bunch of things at once in a big update 1H next year.

Do you remember if that screen is new?

Can also be that the account info is not yet updated (e.g. it talks successfully to the car, but the car doesn't communicate that my account has the free charging yet). I will check again tomorrow. Just guessing here. Also possible that an update is needed to the software, but since it already says it is enabled, not sure why it would need more.

Edit.

Just spoke with EA. They said they are rolling it out, not that all of the stations have it enabled yet.

They also did say the 2020 Taycan would be able to use it.

Regarding the "connecting" screen, I get that every time I charge, but only after I select a charger ID and "start charging" from the App.

By the way, yesterday I was unable to charge because my cell provider had some sort of local outage, and I could not get a data connection.
This resulted in the EA charger disconnecting after a couple of minutes and telling me to unplug and try again... no auto connect there.

Same here with my 2020 (September build). I have to plug in and start charging from the app. Still pretty easy but it requires a phone with data connection.

Have any 2020 or 2021 Taycan's successfully connected with EA plug & pay yet?

It does appear to be live and working for the new Mustang based on a video from yesterday. (at least at that location)
