This is typical of Porsche. They believe we will all upgrade to 1.2 to get those features.

They can actually FRO. What it does is underscore they are intent on cutting loose the old generation. Which will hurt residuals further.

Their choice. But I won't be buying a 1.2. My money is more likely to go BMW's way next.
They should be giving us those new features as an apology for the mess of the software for the last year or so.

No way I'd ever buy another Porsche.

First and last. Company is hopeless.

So sorry to hear that.
despite an occasional glitch I’d never buy anything else but a Porsche 😁

It's a nice car but I've had it with terrible and arrogant service coupled with frankly p*ss poor engineering.

There are better options.

Got the software update last week and the PCM is working much better overall. However, I’m now stuck in privacy mode and can’t get it to turn off.

I’ve tried every option in the car and app, but nothing works. Toggling privacy mode in the app does have an effect — the blue “Privacy Mode Active” banner disappears, and the charge status/preconditioning labels change — but the actual functions remain unavailable.

The dealer says it’s not a known issue. Has anyone else experienced this after the update?

Try unplugging the 12V for a few minutes.

Make sure you are in a zone with good signal when you take it out of privacy mode; and it needs to be for a few minutes as it downloads some certificates

You need to disable it in the car, not in the app. What happens when you try that?

Also, I suggest you search this forum for "privacy mode" - it's certainly not unknown to get stuck in this state, though often it's due to Porsche's servers, not the car.

Sorry was a typo - I disable it in the car/PCM not in the app.

I finally had my car in for the update this week. Had to push pretty hard on the dealer to book it in but eventually got a time this monday.

They called me a few hours later and informed me that the car "would not accept the update so we have created a ticket with Porsche".

This morning I got a call: They had to replace the PCM. So when I picked it up it had new PCM and that was correctly updated to v3892.

Seems to work fine now. But I do find it hilarious that they have to replace hardware to get it working :D

Only if the update fails.
It's why @CT14 stopped developing 3rd party PCM updates - because any update can fail randomly for any reason, and then you are forced to replace the hardware.

It's also why they stopped doing/trying/offering PCM updates OTA, because if it fails, it bricks the hardware. Imagine it happens to you on top of a mountain pass while you stop to pee, not great :D

The new PCM based on android for MY27 / Cayenne / Macan solves this.

Partly true, OTA updates are still coming in.

Not for the PCM, no. App updates and logging flags changes for the OTA module are not really "updates".

There have been 0 casses of someone going from 3882 to 3885 OTA. 0 casses of someone going from 3885 to 3892. etc.

Updating the snakes game OTA on a nokia phone is not a nokia phone update - as an example :D
