Great report and good to hear there may be a proper fix, but these never ending dealer appointments are a hassle, free cappuccino or not.

I have a 250 mile round trip tomorrow fully expecting the nav/planner issues. If only we had manual battery pre-heat, I’d be happier to pay for ABRP premium.

I finally got my car back today after a three-day visit to the dealership. They applied a few software patches. The service guys were incredibly helpful and provided some insights into Porsche’s approach to this issue. PAG is actively working on a solution, and the service advisors believe it’s a RAM or memory problem, which aligns with our initial thoughts on this thread. They received the green light to replace some PCM’s in certain Taycans. However, they need to apply all the patches first, so they applied it for me. They expect me to be back within a week as they are not under the impression the updates are the fix. Afterward, they can order a new PCM unit, which is currently backordered due to the high demand caused by this issue. They aim for a March replacement. Fine by me as I only do road trips in summer months. They acknowledge that this is a major setback and are concerned that it could negatively impact Porsche’s reputation. There are too many problems, and all owners are not upgrading to J1.2 as they had anticipated a few years ago.

On a unrelated note, they shared some information about the new seven-seater above the Cayenne and the 718 EV (sorry, @chun, it’s really coming!). They even shared info about the factory locations and expected drive trains.
Am also visting on monday. Let's see what mine says, will bring up your points also :D

Did they give you a list of the updates, or a campaign number? Anything written in the service book?

Not had chance to post on this thread since my service (post a few pages ago).

Satnav rebooted itself the next day 😂

Hardware replacement will be interesting if it happens. Now if they really care about their reputation, they should look at upgrading it to J1.2 software when it's replaced. Then keep them all sync'd up version wise until the hardware is defunct.

This is really great news!

Also looking forward to hearing your experience. If my Porsche center says nein, I'll come to yours.

@chun yours was fixed already right? Or is the issue back?

Before everyone celebrates, let’s consider the implications of a new PCM. Of course, it won’t fix the issue unless they add more memory. However, it’s likely that PAG is buying time. This decision seems rather foolish. I’ve heard that a PCM can cost up to €4500. If they need to replace all J1.1’s, it could be a significant financial burden.

To add on last post, these are the issues why you need extended warranty on a Porsche. Part prices are insane

Used it first time for a while today with a simple one stop charge plan. First 30 mins all good, then it started the crashing and rebooting, disabling innodrive due to lack of navigation data too. Useless.

Hey, so i wasn't insanse when i was the only one reporting innodrive deactivating. Almost caused me to crash once.

My dealer is treating it like it's not a big deal :D

Hi Everyone!
Had a long trip yesterday (CT 2023) with PCP on and it kept on crashing until it actually got stuck completely. This affected range indicator, which only corrected to the right remaining range once i was on 15% battery charge. This really sucks. I have already booked service appointment at Porsche Service and they told me that there are some software solutions🤨 lets see if they maybe replace hardware as well. I completely agree that such essential failure is currently adressed horribly by Porsche(((

Mobility says the solution is not available yet and unknown when.

My dealer who was confident he can fix it now said it's a known issue, no solution, we can re apply the same updates and hopefully it works temporary like last time.

So I wouldn't believe anyone saying they have a solution.

Its funny that my dealer in Salzburg also admitted that is is a known and currently very frequent failure😂

I suspect that given the long time it takes Porsche to address the issue, it isn't so much a "bug" but a fundamental design choice. My suspicion is that the system was designed for far fewer public chargers than there are now. As observed here variously, the current system seems pretty brain-dead. It shows chargers miles out of the way of your charted route; it continues to show chargers that you have already left behind; it shows low-powered chargers where there are high-powered chargers within range. It does not change its original mind as chargers become unavailable...

None of this makes sense from today's vantage.

The fix for this is not easy. For you first have to ask yourself do we still need a Charge Planner at all? If the answer is yes, then what do we want from that Charge Planner? My answer to that today is: I want the Charge Planner to be alive to availability counts dropping to zero. I want the Charge Planner to be alive to real rates delivered, not headline rates. I want to be able to nominate charging partners in order of priority. I have a preference for chargers immediately off my route, not in the nearest town. I would love for the Charge Planner to have a Plan A and a Plan B (for when there are suddenly no spaces at the Plan A stop).

Now, when you reflect on this wish list, one new demand immediately stands out that is fundamentally different from anything that system was designed to do: to acquire a perception of which are and aren't real-world charge rates, the Charge Planner would have to telegraph the experience from other Porsche drivers home...

I am in good spirits. Whatever your dealers say, Porsche is well aware of the issue. And the delay suggests to me that they are working on a comprehensive upgrade, not just "a fix".

July 2025: Nav hanging up in European Taycans first reported in PFF
January 2026: Dealers acknowledge it is "a known issue".

Exactly!) and for the first two years it worked without any issues🤷🏼‍♂️. Of course we can use other maps, but battery pre-heat will not work.
