I can’t see an obvious difference between the Matrix and the Matrix in black in the configurator.

Is there a black button on a black background labelled in black that when you press it, the lights light up in black?

The bits inside the housing between the LEDs are black.

IRL it's more sinister.
Especially on a totally black car.
I can see it can be attractive in some setups.

Yeah I know but what I'm trying to say is that my car (a white one) looks much better IRL than in the configurator so it's kinda hard to value a pic.
But maybe you can try a white one?

I love the black but since I already have glacier ice blue I'm after that same color for the back logo (retrofit).
Maybe if I'd spec it again I would've had black matrix...

You take the gentian blue pill and end up with standard LED lights, but if you choose the carmine red pill, you get to see how good the Matrix LEDs are.
