Hi All:
I've got a lock date for my GTS build. I'm wondering if you could give me some input.

I'll be using my GTS primarily as a daily driver, plus I'm taking lessons on the track. I live in San Francisco, though I drive up to Marin, down to Silicon Valley, and to Tahoe a lot. The car will see only occasional use in Tahoe in the winter and I will keep a separate set of wheels/tires for the core winter months.

Here's the link:

Thoughts?

Thank you in advance,
Andrew

I would exclude the Porsche Mobile Charger Connect. I think the basic one comes at no cost. You can buy a ChargePoint HomeFlex for less than $800. There is a thread on her for home charges, but the Porsche one is not really that great for the price. Add the smokers package (it is free) and you get a coin holder with a Porsche logo on the top. Not sure on the GTS, but the black under the mirrors on non GTS are that plastic that is the same as the lower valance. There is an option to have it painted (I missed it on my build).

IMO, Taycan looks much, much better on 21" wheels.
(Are you planning to keep 20" for winter, using aftermarket 21" (like Vosen)?
Also, I'd recommend PDCC (since you mentioned tracking lessons).

Totally agree. Mission E's on my car.

I agree on wheels. I'd be more inclined to get aftermarket winters and get the GTS wheels.

I think the active shade on the pano roof will prove to be a gimmick. I'd skip it for the cost.

Lane Change Assist? I believe this is like BLIS on Volvos. I find it useful.

Do you get Comfort Access in the packages too (not sure I saw it). Again, I have it on a Volvo and it's surprisingly useful.

Comfort is an option and in UK we typically don't get 'packs'. I find it useful and has a neat auto power on party trick.

LCA - LEDs in door mirrors, should be standard as it is in cars costing 1/3 the price of a Taycan!

Hi, I don't have an option for Comfort Access -- can you describe what it is? It may be called something different in the US.

On the sunroof, I usually get the sunshade, which is not offered. Do you find the sun overpowering through the big glass roof?

Thanks,

it is standard on US spec cars as is Homelink - perhaps familiarise yourself with the standard specification before adding options:

As a driver you don't tend to notice the glass roof as your sit slightly forward from it. Not overpowering but you can source a shade should you need it for the standard panoramic roof.

My car's probably a year off, so don't know yet. And living in the UK likely never will :D

The shade in our family wagon auto closes at the slightest hint of too hot or cold weather. I don't feel it makes any difference and the first thing I do on getting in is open it.

Not also on the Doug deMuro vid that there seem to be limits for how it can be blanked in terms of leaving half open or closed.

If it were more flexible and went darker, I might think differently. As it stands, it feels like an expensive gimmick that goes in the "one more semi-pointless extra on the one more thing to fail" pile :)

Comfort access is keyless access for the most part, AIUI. No need to blip the fob, can open the boot (trunk) with a gesture, lock up with barely a touch etc. Again, have it on the family wagon and it's surprisingly useful.

If I needed to save the £750 then I could live without it... But at present it's on my list.

Here’s my thoughts:

What’s the purpose with the Fire Extinguisher? I would skip that.

I would add these performance and driving focused equipment:

- Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control Sport (PDCC Sport)
- Porsche Surface Coated Brakes (PSCB) with Calipers in White (with a fast car you need the brakes to match)
- Adaptive Sport Seats Plus (18-way) with Memory Package

Also I would add these:

- Exterior Mirror Lower Trim in Exterior Color and Base in High Gloss Black
- B-Pillar Trims in Race-Tex

Comfort access presents the door handles as you walk up with the fob in your pocket. There are some sequences when it does not work and sometimes slow. It is standard, but if not, I would have spec'd it.

I have the Panoramic roof (not a sunroof as it does not open). Backseat passengers notice it. The front of the roof covers you, but the AC is good in the car and have not noticed any heat from it. I do have all my other windows tinted which helps.

PDCC seems to be a big "jury's out" item. I tried a CT4S without it and for road use I'd say it's far from necessary. (Taycan is fsr from a track car. I'd save on "track options" and buy a car better suited with the money saved).

Brakes - regen allegedly does most of it. Lots of sensible topics on here about brakes. I don't think I'm bothering. Unless we get some evidence that wear rates on std brakes are excessive.

Sports seats, mirrors and B-Pillar (assuming Race-Tex headliner with a leather interior?) I agree with.

Thank you -- A few questions:

I originally planned to get the mission 21" wheels and the PSCB breaks. But after researching the brakes, I can't find any benefit except lack of dust -- Porsche's own tests do not show better stopping distance. Please correct me if you have different test data!

Regarding the PDCC sport: I just don't think I'll track the car enough. And otherwise, I'll never use it

Do you know if the sport seats in the Taycan are the same as the adaptive seats in other Porsches? And if so, which cars have the same seats? I'm having trouble locating a Taycan with the seats that I can try (if the car is sold, they won't let me even sit in the car). The 14 ways are comfy for me and I just want to try to the 18's before I buy.

Lack of dust and none corroding disk (stay shiny). With Mission Es you have to option but personally I'd skip the wheels.

PDCC - really not necessary if only tracking now and then.

Sport Seats - higher bolsters making ingress / egress harder. They don't auto adapt whilst cornering if that's what you're after. Comfort seats are excellent and you can live without the extra adjustment. Better if you can find an example to try before deciding.

Glad I viewed this post.
Just added the B Pillar Race Tex option on to my GTS Saloon build. Phew.
