In the UK you just call Porsche assist and they recover the car for you and it jumps the queue. Not sure if this is an option in the US but waiting for a standard appointment does not seem appropriate when it should arguably not be driven due to risk of steaming up.
I complained and got an appt for next week. Weird though now the heat started to work after about 20-30 mins of driving the car around. I parked ran a quick errand and back to cold air blasting again until another 20-30 mins of driving and back to warm air.

Email from PCNA:

Good day sir, I hope all is well. I would like to first apologize for the delayed response. We have received your letter addressed to Lea Anderson regarding the HV heating concern on your 2022 Taycan 4S.

I am responding on her behalf and would like to thank you for contacting Porsche Cars North America. I hope the heater/defroster is working properly and you won’t need to revisit a dealer because of a future failure. Unfortunately, I’m unable to provide you answers on the root cause or design elements at the moment, but please know that our German colleagues are working very hard to make sure this is analyzed and corrected.

If necessary, we will send out letters to our Taycan drivers with instructions. For the time being, your local dealer is in the best position to provide you updates as they become available.

Thank you again for bringing the issue to our attention and for being a valued member of the Porsche family.

Kind Regards,

Quick update. My loaner car was a brand new panamera 4, which I was happy to live with while they waited on parts, I used to have one and they are great cars… day two of driving it, heater went out! Can’t make this up

Took it back to dealer, they fixed it over the weekend as it was a software issue, I went back to pick it up because I didn’t want to be stuck in a Macan base for a month.

Have to say very disappointed in porsche but thankful for my dealership.. not their fault at all.
Picking up my car today, was told everything fixed and back to normal. Taking back this Pan 4 with a lot more miles 🤣

Spoke to the Hatfield Porsche Centre to get an update re parts arriving, still no ETA after two weeks, apparently a couple of heaters had arrived but were being fitted to Taycan’s that were recovered in the first week of January. Clearly supply issues… coupled with wholesale failure of the part across many cars..

Hello thread!

I am on my second heater death issue. Had it once in February 22 and now again in January 23. I'm starting to wonder if this car will need a new heatpump every 12 months.

They seem to be struggling for lots of parts. Apparently the part for my heater has arrived but my car needs a control unit and now they can't get that. They've advised another 4 weeks and my car has been in the garage in Leeds since 3rd Jan.

Same here in Germany - there is only little to no advantage to be just 200km away from Porsche HQ. I had taken the car to the Garage 10 days ago. First they told me about an instant delivery in one or two days, then they started to push things out to the week after. Now, the spare parts are not in sight and they do not know the arrival date.
Seems the component, manufactured by Webasto, is on back order and it will take ample time to produce (worst case) or ship. Not sure where the H10 HVAC omponent is manufactured. Might be Europe East, might be China.

Got my car back today after 1 month. Service guy told me they are now using Audi parts instead of Porsche as supposedly they’re not having the same issues.

no idea how true this is, I thought they always shared parts anyway, but he did specifically say it was different.

My other car is an Audi e-tron, which has a air-con sensor fault and is with dealership, so two electric cars both faulty....I was explaining the Porsche heater to the Audi service advisor, she mentioned that, they have four e-tron GT's all parked round the back all waiting on the same part on back order, which apparently is the same part required for the Taycan. So Audi is experiencing the same issue....

Mine failed yesterday. Going Thursday to workshop for „diagnostic”. Little scared about the fix. It’s a real issue during winter. Windows are getting foggy on longer distances.

Yes the component failing is the same- the „H10“ element is shared between Taycan and e-tron.

Got my car back yesterday. Three weeks to get it fixed but I know have heat again. They still don't know the root cause & the back order situation is because the failures are so widespread. Part of my delay was because I wasn't first in line at the dealer for a heater.

At some point they're going to find the root cause and have to issue a recall. In the meantime, adding the diagnostic should be simple & they need to do it. The HV heater is also responsible for heating the battery. When it failed, my battery temp was only 42 degrees F (outside temp 40 degrees) after an hour of driving. Post-fix, it was at 77 degrees within a few minutes of starting my journey home (outside temp high 40s). A simple low battery temp warning should let them (and the driver) know that the heater is failing.

Just got back from the workshop. I've been told that it's 7th car this month and that the problem is known to them. They need time to send diagnostic to Porsche for getting new part and it takes around 5-7 days. They gave me a Macan as a replacement car for that time.

oh I didn't mention that todays morning I had error message first time since heating stopped working "Cooling system fault"

I got my car back; heater is fixed. the dealer wouldn't tell me how many Taycan had the issue so far this winter but only that it was "many cars" and that Porsche factory was asking that every defective high voltage element be sent back to them for teardown (or lawsuit against the parts manufacturer...)

The service agent also mentioned that this was a "new design" part and that it should be permanently fixed; doesn't really mesh with the whole sending the parts back to the factory if they already know what was wrong and fixed it but we'll see.

The on and off cameras on the car is because the factory forgot to put rubber seal gaskets in the video cable connectors. The whole front video cable had to be changed because the connector was wet and oxidised. Porsche said this is the first they've seen this on any of the cars they service.

I got my car back this week, it took 3 weeks to the day. The fix was quick once the heater came in. My biggest concern is the service manger told me that Germany sent the states a large shipment that arrived this past Saturday. BUT......he said he things they are just replacements with no upgrades to his knowledge. Not sure if thats true or not but I am hoping they are not just swapping them out as we will on be on here again next Winter!
Anyone hearing anything else?
