I know this is a first world problem, but having trouble deciding what I should do next.

2020 Taycan 4S will be out of warranty in May - July (both mileage and years) and don't want to risk it with an extended warranty, but still left as an option in the poll. Intrigued by some of the upcoming EVs (EQG, ERR, Electre) that may be available this year, but highly unlikely any would be available to purchase by July.

I would prefer a car/coupe and still think the Taycan is the best option that will be available for several years, but have also never purchased the same car twice.

Any advise or help is appreciated.

A year extended warranty will give you a little breathing room while you watch the market for new and used EVs.

I don't know whether Porsche pro-rates the extended warranty cost if you sell before it is up.

What is ERR? Also if you prefer a car/coupe, shouldn't you be looking at the Evija and Cayman EV rather than EQG and Electre?
Electric Range Rover. I don’t like the looks of the Emeya, looks like it is trying to be Taycan IMO. Realistically it will most likely be 2026 before we see any other electric Porsche beside the Macan given the history.

How is an extended warranty more expensive than selling a depreciated car and then buying the same car new and taking the depreciation hit immediatly, or renting a car for a year? Why is an extended warranty risky?
Realize that it may be more expensive but also have a desire for a new car soon. Again none of this is a need. I have never had an extended warranty, but have heard that if something does happen it may still not be covered. I already had a new battery and also have seen the electric fault error since then. Trying to minimize the potential for a huge out of pocket maintenance expense.

I've heard that the dealers are dealing aggressively now to sell the car whereas before you were lucky to get any discount at all. Newer car means new car smell, and more! If you still cannot decide, consider talking to a therapist. No amount of opinions is likely to provide comfort that you made the right decision.

I was in the same boat on my 2020 4S. Absolutely love the car and decided to get a Porsche Platinum warranty to align with the HV battery warranty to 2028. A whole lot cheaper than buying new.

Gives me the flexibility to get a new ride in a few years with the imbedded NACS plug, better software, improved technology, and longer range battery. I’m hoping, as you, a hip coupe or a Taycan Gen 2!

I did the same thing. Under $4K and 8 years of protection.

I have a 2020 4S and had multiple issues under warranty. After 3 years it was a no brainer extending. Porsche will credit any unused warranty if you sell back to them and it will help if you sell to a third party. I wouldn’t take the risk and will but the extended warranty until the car goes.

Hi - how much did you pay to extend your warranty? I’m coming up to 3 years on my ‘21 Taycan and want to extend for one year to the end of my PCP…

It was the standard price offered by Porsche at £1,110. Just took out one year. Cheaper if you go for 3 year option. It's costly but you get some peace of mind !!

Do you need to take it in for check before they'll give the extension or do they just grant it as long as you're still in existing warranty?

Side question, did they contact you and offer it (email or whatever) or did you have ask for it? I ask as Land Rover didn't and i only realised when i was out of warranty!

This decision depends on the financials (e.g. how much to upgrade to new Taycan now, before the warranty is over), whether or not you want features you didn't get on the 2020, how long you're planning on keeping it, etc. I have bought same cars before, either because I wanted to upgrade to higher trim or some option, or because it was a good time, for example I could get a great trade-in value and good price/incentives on the new one.
