Yesterday I was in an area where there are crazy high speed bumps, carefully I stopped waited for lift to raise. on the way there it went ok, on the way back I did also the lift, went again as slow as possible but it scraped right under my seat. The road was even from left to right and my skirts were fine, so I’m wondering what got scraped. Later it got me thinking that because of the long wheelbase I could had never passed that bump, as the front wheels where already completely over it while the rear wheels still had to enter. Next time I will have to cross diagonally to make sure the car is raised with at least one wheel on the curb somewhere.

Never had a scrape before, not on the nose, not on the middle, it felt awfull. :crying:

cosmetically there is nothing wrong, I’m just wondering what the bottom now looks like.

Look underneath. If the bump was across the entire width of the car, probably similar as lifting the car by the frame along the edges. Taycans are really flat on the bottom. Also, if no warnings from the car about any battery issues, that’s a good sign. So hopefully just some cosmetic scratches.

Yes that was my thought too, there must be some kind of “lowest” point rails from front to back to absorb these. The bump itself was like 70” long while 30” high, whoever designed this one must really hate cars.

Probably just cosmetic. The noise is painful though.

Did you have the locations set up for auto-lift? I find it so unreliable that I often have to manually initiate it...then have to watch out for the auto-lift starting a fraction of a second before I hit the button, meaning I end up inadvertently cancelling it.

Yes I have the same experience, was the first time there, on the way in i pushed the button, blue, lift
on the way back i stopped before, no automatic lift (not blue) though the geo should had been captured from on the way in. pressed blue manually, waited a second, very slow roll up the bump, still scrape. So either PCM is super slow and what you described happened, or it was a borderline bump.

I think we’re good, some very light scratches, which might even be removed with bottom wash, if you ever wondered what the bottom looked like:

I fretted about undercarriage scrapes on a previous car. My wife, smarter than me, told me I really shouldn't worry about what the underside of the car looks like unless it's causing problems with operation.

It gave me a little peace.

BTW your underside looks pretty great to me, I'd not worry. But whoever made that speed bump is evil.

If it was 30” high, you would have needed a crane to get your car off of it…

Scrape is a nonissue. Undercarriage is protected. Would take a hard, narrowly focused hit to do any damage.

Nothing to worry about. The underside is made tough to tolerate all the abuse. Unless it’s a puncture you’re all OK.Here’s mine from a couple months ago.
