Disappointed there is no fly around option in 'surround' view (MY23)

For 'park assist with surround view' option the blurb says it includes.......

'A junction view (from front and rear of vehicle) provides assistance at more complex exits. Images are displayed on the screen of Porsche Communication Management (PCM) Including mirror lighting'

How do you activate this please? I can't find a reference in the online manual I have found

Also what is mirror lighting?

many thanks

edit - or is the 'junction view' that kind of distorted fish eye view that tries to show 180 degrees on the screen? in which case..... Meh!

There are led lights in the underside of each door mirror.

I think you need Remote Park Assist to get junction view which comes with more features - I've never seen it on my surround view on the Taycan or Panamera.

The fly around (3D) is also part of the Remote Park Assist and was previously a hack until uPdate was applied.

It is not the fish eye view.

I think they do mean the weird fisheye views. I happened to park right next to a pillar today so took a few photos. In normal view (pic #1) you can't see past the pillar, but in fisheye view (pic #2) you can see around the pillar and down the "junction" a bit. Overall not great resolution so I rarely use it.

I do have remote park assist so not sure if your camera configuration is different.

Junction view would pop up automatically at a junction in the same way park assist displays the front or rear view when parking - since you have the full park assist option does yours do that?

It may need configured in the PCM under Assistance.

Standard pano / surround offers both views as above and so I'd expect something more to be honest but could be entirely wrong.

I think some terms are getting confused here. The way I read the quoted text is that surround view is a composite view of multiple cameras as detailed in the users guide. There is no mention that I can find of a “junction view” that automatically pops up at “more complex exits”. That sounds like a confused marketer to me. The mirror lighting is also mentioned in the manual in reference to surround view.

Take a look at the simulator and the various options under Assistance - some of these may do "special" things where fitted and most may require the inappropriately named Remote Park Assist amongst other things.

It is stupid. I was also surprised to see that I can’t see the car and rotate it 360 degrees like I thought I would. Despite having “Surround View”. Why that comes only with Park Assist makes no sense to me.

3D is part of Remote Park Assist as I mentioned earlier - clearly stated on the confuserator.

I didn't mean that you were confused. I meant that the marketing people who wrote that were confused. I don't believe it exists (on my MY22 vehicle) as written. I have Park Assist with Surround View on my car (yes it includes the useless 3D view). I've never come across anything remotely resembling that description and I was unable to find any similar reference in the depths of the menus. Maybe it's a feature that is not on US cars or only on MY23 cars?

So this is interesting... I went to the US confuserator and the same description is for "Surround View". I think another post was right when they stated it was probably the crazy fisheye views you can switch to. That's the only other feature of Surround View that it could be. If that's the case the description in the confuserator is exceptionally poor.

It is called Remote Park Assist - for the third time.

Previously we all had access to the 3D (spinable image of the car) if we had pano /360 surround but following uPdate (last September) this hack was removed.

Sigh. Did you even look at the picture I provided that used the term "junction view" and is titled "Surround View"? I have remote park assist. I have surround view. Not sure what point you're even trying to make anymore except for me leaving the word "remote" out of my description.
