Taycan 4S 2022 arriving this week

Hi, my home charger is a single phase 16amp and currently, it takes 20 hours approx to charge from 10 to 100% for my tesla model 3 long-range 2021.
I assume, taycan 4S 2022 will take around same or a bit less.

Taycan 4S is coming with 22kw onboard charger + and 11kw Mobile charger kit as standard.

Now the mobile charge connect addon is an expensive addon, and it supports 22kw charging by using the 22kw onboard charger in the car, but it needs 16/32amp 3 phase line.
My apartment doesn't have 3 phases allowed by the owner for me.

So, can I simply keep using the 11kw Mobile charger kit as standard?

or do I still need to buy the Mobile Charge Connect?

Another question - Mobile Charge Connect with wall mount can be purchased later too or has to be ordered with the car only?

I tried to check myself - I can see there is a huge price difference between Porsche Accessories Page vs Order Config Page figures for the Mobile Charge Connect.

Porsche Mobile Charger Connect (PMCC) is not essential at all and the standard (free) Porsche Mobile Charger Plus (PMC+) will cover your basic home charging needs.

PMCC supports up to 22kW but if you don't have a 3 phase supply then no need. It does provide WiFi and WiFi hotspot access plus a display screen but again non essential.

Either EVSE should come with a basic wall mount kit (check the manual / dealer) but can be quite untidy. The Porsche Dock works well with PMCC.

Why not use your Tesla EVSE (
I think an adapter is available)?

Yes but lacks details of the PMC+ - mentioned only.

According to the manual the basic wall mount is extra.

So, with the standard charger 11kw, from 20 to 100, approx how many would it take on ac single phase 16amp charging point ?

220V * 16A = 3.52kwh
400V * 16A = 11.072 kwh….so you can do the math (20-100%) by yourself…

A long time. You really need 32A to get 7.4kW to get from say 15% to 85% on around seven hours. 16A will double that.

Forget charging to 100% - 85% is good enough for daily use (or longer). The last 15% will take hours on your proposed setup.

Rethink your strategy here.

The building owner isn’t allowing to go for 32amp, so I use the 12ams single phase setup for my Tesla right now and I don’t have issues with Tesla charging.
I normally charge the car every night whenever the km range is showing 200km or less.
so I assume taycan would be same

like 20 to 85% in 12-14 hours.

230V @ 12A?
You’re looking at around 20 hours on the large battery for 20-85%.

Closer to 17h on the smaller battery.

15 hours then.
That’s correct. Yes.
same as the Tesla.
so, basically connect the car to charger every night or whenever it drops below 25%.
thumb of rule for poor 16amp buildings he he.

but does the charging time improve, if we install 32amp single phase breaker ?
I currently have 16amp kit connected single phase. I can ask them, if they can allow me to put a 32amp kit to it, as wiring doesn’t need to be changed, I believe.

I don't think in the US with the standard PMCP charger you have a 240V 16amp option. I wish you had but the lowest amp rated 240V adapter that comes with PMCP is a 30 amp adapter (Nema 15-30). I have a feeling people tend to overkill when it comes to charging speed. How many times you drive 250miles come back home and in 10 hours (assume you need some sleep and shower) you need to drive another 250miles. That never happened to me but of course lifestyles are different, if you are a real estate agent your needs would be different . We have been using a simple US home plug for the past 1 year (1.3kw charging speed) and worked perfectly fine for us. We have a standard suburban lifestyle with 2 kids, commute to work, pick up kids go to groceries and we only plug it in less half the time. I think 240V X 16 amp would be way more than enough for us with double+ the speed vs115x12amp (and would avoid a costly rewiring to our garage as low amp 240V solutions can use same wiring) but PMCP does not seem to support it. There is a 50% option on the device, so theoretically if I put a NEMA 15-30 and click 50%, it should pull ~15amps but the adapter physically won't fit the 240Vx16amp outlet set up. Appreciate any ideas on this.
