The 19" tires do split the crowd quite a bit. I personally like them. Not like the prettiest possible but not bad either. Just ok.

Balancing out the okness for me was for one the fact that Finnish roads suck. The 19" tires will be the most durable ones. And 2nd reason of course the price. To make 4S much cheaper than the Turbo one can't just "spec it all". :)
You can maybe keep winter tires on the 19" rims to ease the swap?

Did some testing regarding phantom drain. Had the car sitting idle for 1 week and it lost 1% of charge during that time. This is another confirmation that it is not a problem to just let the car be for many weeks if needed.

If you're wondering why I had the car sitting idle for a week, I had to go on a trip with my other car since the shop recommended that I shouldn't let too much moisture get inside the broken headlight cover so I decided that long distance driving is not an option until the headlights are fixed.

Luckily I will get the headlight fixed within a couple of days and they will apply the new update campaign on the same appointment.

The broken headlight was fixed last week and they applied the software updates at the same time. Driven approx 500km since. Car is pristine again and no issues from the update. Life is good.

Roadtrip begins today! Going for my first big roadtrip to the Finnish & Norwegian lapland. Will be 2500+ km. Starting the trip at 5135 km in the meter & at 100% charge.

This trip requires a bit of planning to execute. So far it's going well. Had a reserved charging spot at the first hotel and the car is charging to 100% for another day of driving tomorrow.

I will do a couple of updates from the road and post more pictures. And after this trip I will write a proper review of the car. Then I can say I've really put it to the test.

457 km is a good range! Please report on range and consumption reported by the car (BC) and reported by the charging station if available.

Enjoy your trip!

The delivery of my Taycan 4S was yesterday. Drove a total of 4 hours on the first day and I'm very happy with the car so far. It's incredible. Pouring rain today so taking a break now but can't wait to go driving again. Will have my first longer trip actually already in a few days!

I will do a proper review in a few weeks once I've had the time to get to know the car. But from what I've seen so far, I'm impressed. Compared to my Audi A7 I feel like I'm driving a formula car. And the flexibility is truly something. In normal mode the car can be driven as smoothly and comfortably as I've ever driven anything. But in sport and sport plus it transforms into a true sports car.

Lots of things I could already say, but they'll have to wait for the long review, where I will go through everything. But I can already say that it is an epic car.

There is one strange thing I noticed right away and want to ask other owners. The lights in the car tend to stay on even after I lock the car in the garage... what is that about? To me it seemed like a bug. I was able to get them to go off by unlocking -> switching to parking lights -> switching back to automatic lights -> locking again. Then the lights went immediately off. As the lights were on automatic originally, and switching back and forth then fixed it, I could only assume this must be a bug of some sort. Or am I missing something? This has already happened twice in my garage and basically seems to be normal operation.

And yes of course, before you guys ask, I do have some pictures. Here they are. Will post more with the proper review.

Time for a quick recap on my recent lapland roadtrip! I apologize for not making any updates on the go. I simply did not have the time. I was enjoying the trip with my family.

We went all the way to Tromso in Norway and the total length of the trip was 2540 km. All in all I have now driven approx 8000 km with my Taycan. The roadtrip in lapland went very well! We did not have to resort to plan B at all. Plan A being public charging stations at hotels and elsewhere, and plan B being regular electricity plugs with the mobile charger. Plan A powered us all the way.

We had no problems on the way. It did require a lot of planning, and I did often drive in range mode. A couple of times I even used the lousy Eco Plus air conditioning but then later on stopped as I noticed the effect of that is negligible. The normal Eco mode which is decent, is quite enough from efficiency point of view. It still heats the cabin, Eco Plus doesn't seem to do anything but circle the air. AC cooling, which affects the consumption quite a bit, wasn't really needed on this trip at any point due to the weather.

Taycan took us reliably around lapland and the drive was very pleasant. Taycan is a good long distance driver.

One thing that bothered me at times was the condition of the roads. I had an incident twice during the trip. As many of you know, in range mode the car drives as low as possible. I think that didn't help in these situations. What happened was that there was a bump in the road of sorts, a downing/pit which caused the bottom of the car to hit the ground. Or at least it felt that way, as the sound was deafening and it felt even worse than driving over a bad pothole. These happened when the road was going steeply downhill, and then had this bump at the point where the road started to level. I was driving quite normal speeds, not speeding at all, and this still happened twice. I don't know if it would've made a difference had I not driven on range mode.

I can only hope there was no lasting damage from those hits. The car has behaved 100% normally since, but you never know. Perhaps I'll ask the dealership to inspect the bottom of the car the next time I take it there for some reason. I'm not 100% sure if they were actual bottom hits or just the suspension reaching its limit with those bumps. And in any case it may be that the car is robust enough to take such hits occasionally.

But otherwise I must say the trip went very well. Even the roads were quite good 95% of the time. The sights in the Kilpisjärvi-Tromso region are incredible, and the pictures can't describe how beautiful it is there. Can recommend visiting.

Here are some pictures from my trip, and as always, I'm happy to answer questions if I can. And to answer one question already; I don't have much info on efficiency. I didn't really look at that, at all. It's not really my thing. Maybe I'll get to looking into the efficiency more, at some point.
