I've asked him to send me the email that supposedly went out.

Just looking at current Taycan configurator and it does still list this as standard...

Yes I just check that too :) I guess we will find out for sure when the chargers are supplied.

If need be I can buy a 32A mobile charger for £179 on Amazon and they look more sophisted than the Porsche one, variable supply from 10A to 32A and lcd display to show output, voltage and temperature

Update on the thread...

Titan cover ordered and sorted (think it was a Titan i had on my Cayenne).

On the charger front, it seems Porsche have recently changed the charger (in the last few months) now supplied as standard, and it is now a 230v 16amp supply (equating to 3.68 kW). Dealer told me what they had been supplying was "illegal", I suspect it is to do with permissions needed with the DNO for any charger larger than this.
Re standard EVSE - not sure this feels correct.

EVSE is not a charger (the charger is in the car for both AC and DC charging.

EVSE = PMC, PMC+, PMCC

The original PMC was a choice between a 16A 3.6kW or a 40A 9.6kW - possibly market dependent.

The PMC+ which the Taycan had since launch (2020) supported up to 40A 9.6kW and the "+" introduced HEM and network support.

The PMCC topped this off with up to 22kW (requiring 3 phase to support). NA had a PMCC limited to 19.6kW.

I can't believe it was or is illegal either plus I don't read or hear of Porsche contacting customers to recover these "illegal" units.

To have a full EV and to depend on a 3.6kW EVSE for home charging is a major shortcoming IMHO. It would be better to drop the supply entirely, credit new customers and advise they source something more suitable.

The same PMC+ is used across VAG and so I would expect VW, Audi, Skoda etc to be making the same claims.

More on the story to come I guess.

Just doing a quick google search and there are a few posts (generally North America) but seem to talk about the charger being downgraded... ie this one

Need a Class Action Lawsuit - Porsche Mobile Charger | TaycanForum -- Porsche Taycan Owners, News, Discussions, Forums
That is for the PMCC and not the PMC+ (which is the standard). NA customers received the global software update for their network attached PMCCs which unfortunately cut the amps by 50% which reduced the available electrical supply. Europe and elsewhere also received the same software patch which didn't impact anything. Porsche then pulled the update in NA.

Quick response, this is what the letter that has gone out to customers says...

Customer information about omission of Mobile Charger Plus and Mobile Charger Connect

Dear customer,

The supply cable does not determine the EVSE supplied. The rating of the EVSE (PMC+) is not actually stated or mentioned.

The same supply cable will work on any of the Porsche EVSEs and so to use a supply cable rated at 230V, 32A will still only supply 230V, 16A for an attached EVSE which is only capable of drawing 16A.

and this is the headline that was sent through in relation to the info...

From the 30th June 2022, Porsche are required to remove two charging cables from sale. The Mobile Charger Connect and Mobile Charger Plus will no longer be legal to be sold in the UK.

Ok so this doesn't look good for new customers.

This is different to providing an EVSE which only supports 3.6kW which is where this thread started.

The letter implies that no PMC+ or PMCC will be sold with the car either as standard equipment or as an additional cost option.

This then leaves a hole - no EVSE supplied with the car - really?

Presumably the price of the car has been reduced to reflect this scope of supply reduction OR an alternative EVSE will be provided.

More information is required to make full sense of this now.

So does your SE advise what happens to existing customers - should we be worried now in terms of safely?

I can't believe Porsche would handle such an important thing is such a ham fisted way.

EVSE = PMC, PMC+, PMCC
For my knowledge, could you confirm these three - are they essentially different versions (charging outputs) of the same thing?

PMC = Porsche Mobile Charger (legacy unit)
PMC+ = Porsche Mobile Charger Plus (standard on Taycans globally since launch 2020)
PMCC = Porsche Mobile Charger Connect (optional cost, higher capacity)
PWCC = Porsche Wall Charger Connect (effectively a PMCC in a Porsche Dock)

Depending on country the PMC provided 3.6kW or 9.6kW, PMC+ 9.6kW, PMCC 22kW (or 9.6kW or 19.6kW), PWCC (not sure but minimum 9.6kW and up to 19.6kW).

UK market - PMC or PMC+ or PMCC

PMC and PMC+ look similar and are thinner than the PMCC.

PMC+ - PLC (power line connection for ethernet / networking)

PMCC has a touch panel and display, PLC, WiFi, Hot Spot etc

Overall dimensions are the same except that the PMCC is deeper.

Dealer says it will will come with the "Porsche Mobile Charger Base" which is presumably something along the lines the original 3.6kW version.
