I was thinking that Porsche may use the second connection in the car for their data purposes. Even with a failed LTE module and no data I still had the SOS system working! So first, Porsche needs to pay for the cellular data account of the car. I would not be surprised if they just deactivate the eSIM in the car if you don't pay for service.
Anyone with expired Porsche Connect, does you car show connected? What is the Cellular Connection status showing?
Side note, in order for your battery data to be collected by Porsche, you have to enable both anonymous and personal data collection on the Privacy PCM menu. Without it, they are not allowed to collect any information from the car together with the car's VIN or other identifiable information. So if you did not enable personal data collection, they cannot even tell you that your battery is about to catch on fire because that would be admitting they violated GDPR. It's probably cheaper to settle on a car fire than deal with GDPR penalties.
