Price was indeed around €1000,-
With or without installation? Price for just hardware, at least in the $453USD for two cameras (front+back), but the description implies there are additional, unspecified installation costs.

A useful thread on the Macan EV side.

This in particular:

In reviewing other Dashcam forums, these appear to be the top ones most often considered (of which I’m considering one of the top 4 and most likely buying a Blackvue DR970X due to its cloud viewing features and picture quality):
  1. Blackvue DR970X-2CH Plus (or DR770X)
  2. Blackvue DR970X Box 2-CH Plus or 2-CH LTE Plus (NA)
  3. Thinkware U3000
  4. Vueroid D21 4K
  5. Viofo A229 Pro
  6. Vantrue N5
  7. Fitcamx
I see two use cases:
- driving events, obviously, and i would expect most 2ch systems to be capable. No LTE required, simple.
- parking monitoring, which for my habits is of more sporadic value, and brings the hassle of 12V battery drain

The auto-cut-off feature should alleviate, but having the choice of 12.5 or 12.0V appears inadequate (too coarse and too low) for the discharge curve of the Taycan's LFP battery ?
Alternative is BlackVue's own battery pack gets emptied in 30 hours ?

One cautionary tale from a slightly clumsy individual; was trying to instal the FitcamX product but it isn’t easy given the lack of internal space for wiring run and the fact that it isn’t machined quite as precisely as you would want. Tapped it (too hard, obvs…) to get it to fit and cracked the bloody windscreen…

never again…

I installed fitcam x and did not have the prewiring. Very easy, clean install and very happy. Bought one for my daughter's Mini.

What I used to really like on my M440 was that it had auto-record on at all time, and if you ever got into an accident, it would store the footage with 20 seconds prior to the event. Luckily, I never needed it, but it gave me peace of mind knowing if anyone ever hits me I would have proof. It's weird that we do not get that feature with Porsche. Seems like an obvious one. Maybe it is to conserve the battery.

Probably because it's was an afterthought, rather than designed with the car. Dashcams are not Porsche's area of expertise, they probably just chose some low cost supplier who'd make it for them. The pre-wire wasn't even available in the early Taycans.
