Hi folks.. Any recommendations for a PPF fitter in SouthWest? preferably South Devon.

Has anyone specified the factory fit PPF on confuserator? Confident it will be a good job - Porsche not being PPF specialists?

Cheers

Seriously considering the Porsche option for my GTS - seems to cover the key frontal and door mirror areas. Warranty would be good on it too I imagine.

Yes - makes sense to me too - convenient and no hassle or waiting - not too pricey either -

There have just been a few disparaging remarks not to expect best quality fitting - but because no one will have received it yet - I can't see how they can Judge. Hoping there is a proper review before I lock my spec. Cheers

I've ordered it (and am at least 6 months from build start) after being shown a showroom 911 with it...it's been available as a factory option on that for at least 12 months. I did a quick Google and saw 911 owners happy with having taken the option, others who assume that Porsche can't get it done as well as their local installer (partly because they also get their paint "corrected" by same installer first), but I didn't see any 911 owners who regretted getting the option. But I don't claim to have completed a thorough and exhaustive search. (I've not bothered with PPF in the past, and have no interest in "detailing".)

I specified in on my Taycan 4s order. I don't see Porsche offering it unless they are confident they can do a quality install.

The issue with Porsche's application of PPF is that they do not 'wrap' edges which to me is a non-starter. If you get a chance try to view a car with PPF wrapped and compare to the exposed/visible edges of the factory fit - night and day to me but YMMV :)
That and you can get a far better deal in respect cost from a reputable 3rd party service.

Our sales assistant said that Porsche give 3 years warranty vs 3rd party 10 years on the ppf if that helps with decision making

That sounds better but many people won't keep their car more than 2 - 4 years plus you can extend the warranty on the entire vehicle annually after the 3rd year which is also transferrable to the next owner.

Definitely options to be considered.

question would be and i dont know the answer is that do they do it as well in factory as a 3rd party pro would...ie wrap under leading edges etc

Im planning on doing the whole car so no point doing just front end only to then do rest of it

I have had my 996Turbo and also Macan (now just sold as Taycan CT coming soon !) fully ppfed by topazdetailing of Wimbeldon and they did a brilliant job. The Macan was a 2015 diesel model which cost 57 K and sold last week for 30500 privately so more than half orig value after 7 years. I put that partly down to really immaculate bodywork due to PPF (and maybe the extended warrant).
I will get them to do the Taycan when it comes as it does make a huge difference and well worth the extra cost.

Here’s a thread that might be of interest: Factory PPF

I was considering the factory option until I read it. In fairness, it wasn’t the bubbling that put me off as that can happen and can be sorted under warranty. It was the obvious edges that were on view so, I’m looking at other options.

I've just had my brand new CT fully wrapped with XPEL - the same as Porsche use, but I had it done independently. Porsche wanted £3,500 plus VAT to do the protruding bits ( along with a 10 year warranty), but I thought this was steep (no surprises there then!).
I found these guys near Cherstey (Surrey) and they did the whole car for £2,800 - with the results to match.
They didn't take off mirrors and door handles etc, but other than a couple of almost invisible joins, I'm delighted. Same product and warranty.
They even flatted the paintwork prior to fitting it and then coated the film after fitting too (extra!).
Really thrilled with the results (and the car!!).
