Smell when recirculating air?

Whenever I turn air recirculation there is a burning smell that lasts a few minutes. I have the ionizer option.
There were no problems so far, this option was actually quite impressive at clearing the cabin's air quickly. Is it a maintenance issue or could it be something else?

do you have the uPdate ? If you do , do you get the little Ionizer icon on the right hand side of the PCM screen when its activated ?

Can’t say it’s a burning smell when I enable it but it definitely gives off a plasticky smell. I do not have the ionizer though.
