A lot
Kia has come a long way, literally.
Now they built excellent cars.
Imagine this: being whooped at the traffic lights in your Ferrari by a ..... Kia.
That's priceless!
Everybody knows Tesla's are quick.
Nobody races a Taycan Turbo S.
But boy, beaten by a Kia.... that gotta hurt.
Kudos for Kia for building great cars and having a great sense of humor!
Cheers! 🥳👍🏻

Kia EV6GT 0-60 3.5 75,000 USD
Taycan GTS 0-60 3.5 150,000 USD

Is the Taycan worth an extra 75k. If you are going to track it regularly, maybe so. If you value the ability to say you have a Porsche, OK. If the higher build quality and better materials are worth the 75k, OK. If the looks are worth the extra 75k (and it's damn close) OK.

For me, unless Porsche significantly ramps up performance in the future EV models, I've probably bought my last one. The delta of price just isn't worth it to me. I'll take the Kia, a nice watch, and 50k in the retirement fund. But that's just my value analysis, others will surely be different.
Nice watch 25,000 USD
Casio 100 USD

Both tell time. The Taycan is “only” 2x more than the Kia, while your nice watch is 250x more than a regular watch. In that perspective, I’ll take the Taycan, and I have. ;)
…just messing with ya

The 0-60 time is, for me, literally of zero importance.

I have never done a drag race in my life because where I live there is almost never a traffic light with 2 lanes going the same way and on the rare occasion there may be I have forgotten doing anything like that was an option.

The steering, handling and ride compromise are pretty important to me though and little thing I either particularly like, or particularly do not. I haven’t driven many pleasing cars but when I do I buy it and keep it :) The Taycan may be the best yet thought it is B-I-G it is like a 120% model of a proper car…

I haven’t driven the Kia so know nothing of the important aspects for me but am not keen on the styling and it also is astonishingly vast, way bigger than I expected from photos, like the Ioniq 5 which looks like a 150% model of an Integrale.

The GT in the UK has only has a black interior and privacy glass is standard, so I stop there with any consideration I might buy one.
Getting clear glass in the back is expensive as is re-upholstering the interior.

I chose the 4S because it was plenty quick enough for road conditions around me and otherwise will be equivalent to the more expensive models.

If it wasn’t for the Taycan I wouldn’t have bothered with a new car at all.

Expensive watches are not my thing, but I assume they hold their value much better than cheaper ones, so the cost of ownership isn't as high as it might at first seem?
The same might apply to more specialist cars- certainly the lower volume Porsche models.
But I think that the more rapidly-evolving tech a car has, the faster it will devalue as it becomes rapidly outdated, so the additional cost of a new, premium brand EVs is less likely to be offset by better residuals when compared with a mainstream brand.
I don't regret choosing the Taycan, but I regard it as an extravagance (hopefully I'll be pleasantly surprised when I eventually come to sell at least 3 years down the line).

Brand loyalty is waning then as incumbent and challenger brands make legacy brands appear bad value or unexciting.

Porsche has the second largest drop:

Thanks for sharing. I'm with you on your interpretation, though as usual with this sort of stats summary, I'm left wanting more detail and an explanation of the methodology. From a quick google for the source S&P data, I've only found an overview of the May'21-'22 results, which show Porsche dropping 0.3% while Tesla gained 33.8%. (The charted change numbers are the May'22 % loyalty minus the May'21 % loyalty)
I haven't found anything that corrects my assumption that the survey was only of US owners.

Tbh brand loyalty is a fluffy metric and easy to misinterpret with supply chain issues. That alone could see a fanboy jump ship if it means getting a new car 12 months sooner.

Instead, sales figures over the next few years will be interesting where legacy and challenger brands compete as everything increasingly goes EV.

If a Hyundai now has the performance of a Porsche, why spend the premium? Consumers increasingly won't spend the premium...

This is purely anecdotal but… the wife and I were discussing our dealings with Porsche so far (this is our first one) and we both felt like it’s been a poor overall experience and we will look at (and drive) everything else before buying another one. I do enjoy the hell out of my Taycan but Porsche as a company has been miles away from what I’m looking for. It’s a shame. Maybe they can get their act together over the next few years.

This isn't my first Porsche but it is my first new to order direct with them. I've also been very underwhelmed by the experience. The pick up day wasn't that special compared to say BMW or Mercedes. The comms have been shite. When I got my Merc C350 wagon I was treated better. Love the Taycan, customer service isn't what I expected. All that aside I'd still not buy a Kia as my main special car. They are to me are a functioning brand. Nothing desirable. I don't care how fast they are off the lights.

I’ve actually had a decent experience with my SA: Reading UK. Open and honest and responds quickly to things. Porsche have had a rubbish time with supply chains etc (like everyone else obvs), so considering all that I’ve been pretty happy. Previously I’ve dealt with Audi, Mercedes and Mini-BMW, as well as Volvo. BMW by far the worst and I will never order with them again. Audi good and Volvo good too. Mercedes also pretty decent (if expensive). I’ll give Porsche time once I’ve the car to see how they do, but given all that’s going on it must be a nightmare to be on the end of these constant supply chain disasters at the moment.

While I was waiting to get my car, I came on here and read so many comments from members raising concerns and it definitely made me question my decision to order mine. But, fortunately, my car has been virtually trouble free aside from a couple minor issues like going into park, and having to lock it with the key. This community has prepared me for them so I was not surprised or panicked when they arose. So, overall, I am completely happy with the car, and would do it again in a heartbeat.

I have an EV6 GT-line AWD as my second car. For $58k (nope, I didn't pay ADM), it's a performance bargain with all the features I was wanting. Kia really has done a phenomenal job with it.

If you can see past the typical oriental style interior design the actual fit, finish and quality of materials used is very good indeed… ok some of the lower trim isn’t top class but all brands are guilty of this lately.

Though I already have a deposit down on the Macan EV I will probably go drive the EV6GT and if it’s as good as it feels I wouldn’t put me past going for one instead.

I think the watch analogy is best. The Kia I’m sure is a great EV that looks awesome to boot. But there’s something emotional to the purchase that the Taycan scratches (or will scratch for me, hopefully). In that case the Kia is like a Seiko Monster or other affordable and desirable mech watches that complement but not supplement the Rolex, APs etc. i would think that should ring true for a lot of folks here based on the watch threads here.
