Used my Porsche NACS adapter for the first time yesterday.
-Air suspension was required in lift mode on my CT4 to clear the bump stop and the curb beyond it. Even then I still had the cable tight. V3
-Charging started about 20sec after hitting charge in the Tesla app. Nice.
-Hit 135kW, which is great considering no precond, I was at 51% SoC pulling up, and all bays were full. So, yes I have to 400v charger optioned.
-Nav still doesn’t have Tesla SCs listed so no preconditioning. I put it on Sport Plus but I didn’t notice it climbing above the 85°F anyway. Got to 97° F after 15min~ of charging.
-135~kW was a great speed since it’s at a Publix and any faster it would finish before I’m done grocery shopping 😜

Not all Superchargers are able to charge non-Teslas!

And it isn't obvious when you look at them (V2, V3, V4).

Good thing I had a couple of hours to learn the hard way and wasn't in dire need of a charge.

To avoid trial and error, you need the Tesla app. Then you need to add your non-Tesla vehicle:
1. Select the 3 parallel lines at the top right of the app.
2. Charging
3. Vehicle Details
4. + (to add your vehicle)

To find a compatible Supercharger:
1. Select the 3 parallel lines at the top right of the app.
2. Charge Your Other EV
3. Map will then display compatible chargers within about a 20 mile area, along with a Search Location option to choose other areas.

Once I figured all that out, no problems. I was able to pull straight into the stall and the cable was able to reach to the charge port on the passenger front.

In my experience neither the people at the Porsche dealerships nor the charging specialists at the 800 number know about this.

I forgot to add:
1. You need to add your payment method when you are adding your vehicle to the app.
2. Once you are at the Supercharger, you need to use the Tesla app to identify the charging station to the app. You don't need to do this with a Tesla.

I've used two supercharger sites since 2023 when Tesla started rolling out MagicDock sites…
  • Scott's Valley, CA with MagicDock - Taycan and Macan EV - worked well - quick - easy - ~140 kW charging speed - no issues
  • Forks, WA with MagicDock - Macan EV - worked well - quick - easy - ~140 kW charging speed - no issues
my Macan EV is currently in service and was in service when this all rolled out - so I've not been able to test my Macan w/Adapter - as I lack access to the vehicle while it's being serviced…

I look forward to trying other supercharger sites with my BYOA (Bring your own adapter)

in theory in the future some V4 supercharger sites could provide more than 150 kW charge speed as they can go above 400V charging session - we'll have to wait and see how that goes as this whole thing evolves…

I expect no issues with V3/V4 sites with or without MagicDoc - now that we have authorization and an adapter V3/V4 superchargers are a resource for traveling and will make things easier.

no me so far - the two sites I visited:
  • Scotts Valley, CA has some "side load" superchargers - no bad parking required for Taycan/Macan
  • Forks, WA - Macan is a rear charge port vehicle - so backing in to the stall allows for "normal" parking…
I no longer have the Taycan - so with the Macan EV I should be able to park normally for any supercharger use…

Thanks for this. Got my MY25 4S added. But instead of seeing "charge my other vehicle" I was asked whether I wanted to use it as a "member" or "non-member". Not that $12.99 per month is a lot, but it is a lot if I only use the Tesla chargers a couple or so times a year. What's your take on membership vs not?

Not worth it imo unless you use Supercharger regularly.

Last night (September 18, 2025) I easily charged my 2022 RWD, which has the on-board 150 kw/400V DC charger, at the Tesla Supercharger closest to my home. I used the Porsche-branded adapter, and I used PlugShare to confirm this location accepts non-Teslas.

I plugged the adapter into the supercharger cable, plugged the adapter in my Taycan, then I started the Tesla app and selected the charging station. The car started charging after about one minute. Next time I'll start the app before plugging in.

The %SOC rose from 26 to 50 percent in ten minutes. The peak charge was 127 kW (I have ‘battery-friendly charging’ checked on the PCM). The total energy delivered was 19.87 kWh, and the cost was US$13.11.

Over half of the 24 superchargers at this location (all v3) were in use. Taycans are rare here in the west side of Phoenix, as a few Tesla owners came by to chat while I was charging.

I parked sideways and blocked the adjacent station, but it was broken so nobody yelled at me.

I'm not signing up for Tesla membership as I won't use the Supercharger very often.

I charge my Rivian between 4-5 times a month, and the membership pays for itself at 2-3 sessions. I think it is .12 per kWh less. If you only long-haul once or twice a year you can cancel it the months you won't be using it.

Tried one yesterday. My wife drives new Tesla Y so I have the Tesla application on my phone. Came to the charger, was lucky that the last spot was empty so I parked like a jerk and used the Porsche adapter. Handshake took slightly longer but after selecting the spot number on the app. car started charging no problem.
Good to have this safety net now. The only downside that speed was half even though my battery was at 8% at arrival

charged last night at a V4 supercharger and the whole experience good. The V4 had plenty of cable to reach my charge port. I think I saw a high 130kW during my 12min session. The Tesla app did a good job of showing me which superchargers are compatible with my Taycan. I do have the 150kW/400V on-board option
