Hey, I did search for posts about this but couldn't find any.

Are there any UK recommended insurers for a used, 1yr old Taycan 4S CT?

I've seen a few posts where people have mentioned insurers can be funny about what's the base value vs extras, from my point of view I've bought the car as-is and insured to the bought value £97k. Am sure they'll try and get out if however though.

Have also seen a few posts about resistenance to using Porsche approved repair places.

OK! Just saw the similar threads functionality which works a lot better than the forum search :) I'm with Admiral and happy with them.

I used two brokers - Novo Insurance and First Point. The most competitive quote via them was Covea Insurance, far cheaper than Admiral.

I have an EU driving license and limited NCB though, so could be that you're better off with one of the mainstream carriers.

I have found Swift Cover to be quite good (in relation the extras fitted on the car vis-a-vis the base model). As long as the items were factory/ dealer fitted, these are considered inclusive in the insurance.

I've used Swift Cover for many years for multiple cars (most of them with loaded options).

A lot of insurers want each and every extra option specified and detailed (I've gone through that process - and sometimes the insurance company cannot find an equivalent description of the optional equipment in their systems, so they struggle to add it !).

Swift have been quite good that way that they do not want to know of every listed option, just some evidence that the option was on the car when bought. (So the original invoice copy is very handy).

……have always a case of tourettes when it comes to insurance companies- they all declare to be the best value and lightning quick to take your payments but ……. When it comes to claims payout it’s a completely diff story…..

Yep only there to comply with the law and in the absolute worst case scenario. Otherwise I don’t involve them in any immaterial / minor claims. I just sort it myself. Just not worth it long term.

i can recommend A Plan Private Clients Division in High Wycombe. They are a broker so can access all of the standard markets but also those with specialisms for high value and BEV vehicles.

Their service has been consistently excellent for at least ten years that I have used them so far. And no, this isn't an advert!

Well it looks like Admiral are no longer so admirable- I'd not used them before, but they were the obvious pick for my non-business and no commute policy last year- now asking 60% more to renew. I gave them a call but their best offer was £150 loyalty discount. Thankfully, Privilege (who I've used many times) are asking a similar price to what I paid last year (though I rediscovered how bad they are at being contactable by phone).

I just insured my car (arriving tomorrow hopefully) with eSure. They were cheaper than all the above but very frustrating to deal with because my car isn't yet registered, so to insure without the registration you have to call them. However the sales line tells you to go online to get a quote and cuts you off!!! You cannot proceed without a registered number plate even though I know what it is. They were also less than useful via Twitter.

Eventually I went via the existing customer route and typed random numbers in for the policy and a very helpful chap sorted it all out. The website asks you to list all manufacturer options of which there are many, I insisted on reading out the whole list of options on the invoice although he said everything except the upgraded wheels were irrelevant.

Many of the popular insurers declined to quote either due to the value of the car or because it is owned by my company, but with me as registered keeper.

I managed to get Churchill as the cheapest even with all the extras (courtesy car, motor legal, etc) at £1181 this week. That's Ltd Co owned, me as registered keeper

I had exactly the same experience this week with them. After a call my "7 years loyalty" got me a further £170 off the three cars and home insurance. Ive been able to insure them all seperately with other companies for 25% less.....so much for multi car discounts.

Churchill for me also, c.£1200. was surprised how much more they are to insure than my previous cars. My incumbent wouldn't even quote and the majority i got were in the £2-3k range. Kind of wipes out the fuels savings you expect and use to justify the purchase to the wife :)

I thought that too, but then I realised percentage-wise it's no different. My 40k Audi was £400, my £110k Porsche is £1.1k. When you look at it like that, it's about 1% of the car's value so not too bad (when considering also the power of the Porsche)

I'm sure they'll give you a discount when your £110k Porsche is only worth £95k next year.

This baffles me with insurance companies. The policies go up year on year when the car is becoming less valuable by the month...
