Are the paint color and interior package color to your liking? That would be the biggest factors for me ;)

And I would agree with what others said, this is an adequately optioned 4S that has all the essentials.

I say go for it!

I'm flexible on the exterior color between white, silver, and blue. This one is white. The interior is the two tone black/limestone beige, which I think looks nice. I wouldn't mind black or gray interior either, but this one is fine.

Personally, I wouldn’t spend $130k on anything that wasn’t exactly to my spec. If I’m gonna compromise, I’d just buy something way cheaper to hold me over until I could get exactly what I wanted. And RAS would be a must have for me on this car.
exactly. so is insulated glass. i am order one to spec. Just having hard time debating CT or Sedan. If CT i want 21 inch with all season through snow winter. But overall sedan looks better. Just the rear of Sedan look slightly too big and feel that maybe CT is better at the rear. And CT will be used to move stuff.

I think when considering used versus new in this market the options don’t matter a whole lot. I know these are expensive cars, but at the end of the day, you will probably own it two years then want to tweak something and get another. It’s more about: how soon do you want it, and how much does a bespoke product matter to you.

There is a real solid case to be made for purchasing the car you described, 2021MY, extremely low mileage, well appointed: a 4S with big battery and premium package is what I would call the essentials for a daily driver. Everything else can be debated unless you plan to drive it on a track. And finally you are getting a better warranty than anyone who is getting a car delivered through the middle of 2023.

If you spec an order to your liking you will most likely overspend, as there is never a clear line on where to stop with the options.

Run that car’s option list through the configurator. I have found that dealers in my area are selling used taycans right around the price of the equivalent new one. With the added warranty it makes sense in this market to pay that for instant gratification. If it’s discounted at all for being used I would say it’s a great deal, and you will be driving it 6 months before I get mine ?

To be objective, that car is badass and fits the bill at a great price right now. The question is, is that what you want, or do you want the experience of a bespoke product - which is what I want, and am willing to wait a half a year for..

best of luck!

edit: keep in mind the $7500 fed tax credit (if you are in the states) doesn’t apply to used vehicles. My math is that buying new makes sense if you are after everything you want. But if I came across a certified car with a color package I like, a big battery and premium package for $20k less than what I ordered before lock date I would pull the trigger.

Great points, thanks! I did configure it out. MSRP new is $126,610. I'm getting it at $120,995. It's essentially giving the dealer the tax credit but getting an extended warranty on a car that is truly hardly used at 700 miles. My head says get this one. My heart is what's making me question the lack of RAS (and insulated windows). In truth, I'm sure this car will still drive beautifully even without the RAS, and it will still be pretty quiet without those insulated windows.

Wife decided on the Sports Chrono option steering wheel after trying it out vs the standard steering wheel. It’s not a must have feature.

I live in South East London. Lots of parallel parking and car parking bays only 5cm wider than the 2m car. You wouldn’t have room for 3 point turn down here even with RAS. More like 5-6 point turn or just invade someone’s drive. RAS is not essential. If I had the budget then yes but I capped at £100k just out of principle. Some options are deal breakers but RAS is definitely not one.

Thinking about this thread had me researching CPO models late into the night. If I can find something that satisfies the 80/20 rule I just might bag my build.

The other thing you must understand is that there are often strong views expressed on forums relating to any option you can find. These range from the view that the option is unnecessary all the way through to the view that the car is worthless and wouldn’t be a real Porsche without it. Spend some time having a read through any options thread on this forum and you will see what I mean. The “better” posts explain why they do/don’t have or need an option. Others don’t. To some extent you won’t miss what you have never had - why not see if you can have an extended test drive. Take it home. Park it. Drive it. I suspect you will love and buy - but if not, at least you will have answered your question.

I'm trading in my 18-year-old Acura MDX, which I use to move stuff when I get my Taycan 4S. I'm most definitely not going to use the Taycan to move anything but people and even then only if they pass inspection

I asked my wife if I could pick up my hobby stuff in her Acura RDX (woodworking, etc.). The answer was no, so I put a deposit down on a small truck as well. I was also reminded that "we" had decided to buy an electric Macan for her car if everything works out with the Taycan and she definitely won't let me load up her Macan, if we buy it, and maybe not even drive it ?

The only options that are worthwhile are the ones that make you happy with your new car. The forums are a good place to get people's opinions on options, and for me, to make sure I didn't miss anything obvious. There are so many options that it is easy to miss something that in retrospect you'd really want. The forums helped me make sure I didn't miss anything.

Given the supply constraints and crazy market, the only decent option for a 4S I have found is a very slightly used 2021 CPO 4S with 740 miles optioned with Performance Battery Plus, Premium Package, Sport Chrono, and Adaptive Cruise Control. It actually has more warranty years now with the CPO than a new vehicle. I absolutely would not buy a 4S without these options but I would love to have the Performance Pack or at least Rear Axle Steering. I would also like to have insulated windows and the power charge port cover, but I feel those are more optional. I have looked into securing an allocation for a new 4S but dealers are marking them up a bunch. I'm not doing that.

Any thoughts on how hampered this 4S will feel without the RAS in particular? That's the one option that is nearly a must for me based on everything I have read but it seems very hard to come by on the used market, especially in combination with Adaptive Cruise Control, which is even more important to me. I think I'm probably over-obsessing about these things but I also don't want to feel like I am really missing out by compromising.
while the RAS is nice to have on the car it is not essential. the lack of it should not be a deal breaker.

Are there any other used Taycans around that you could test drive with RAS and SC, so you could decide for yourself?

Have you test driven the one you’re interested in yet, and tested its radius in a parking lot?

Yeah i had like a family meeting yesterday to figure out which cars to keep at home. We may keep the Prius for moving stuff. But if i am a one person family, then i don't want to keep two cars. the Taycan insurance is like two times cost of a regular car. So if i am to keep one car, the CT makes more practical sense. I will just invest in the liners. But the big gamble is if i get the CT, i want to use 4 seasons all year. I don't want to suffer 4 months a year missing my 21 inch rims.
