Tesla Supercharger success with NACS adapter!

Just picked up a new to me 2022 Taycan 4S. Road tripped from Chicago to Atlanta and stopped at a Tesla Supercharger. Was able to charge using my NACS adapter with no issues. Happy we can use these chargers!

how did you activate the charging session?

Activated from the Tesla app. I first setup the car in the app.

Was that a V4 Magic Dock location (I know you used the NACS adapter...)?. The v4 locales are the only ones that show in the Tesla app for the Porsche Taycan.

I clarified that question..sorry. Interestingly, for my KIA EV6, EVERY Tesla locale shows in the app but, at the moment, they do not work (except for the Magic Dock)..So I don't know how seriously to take a "show" or "no show" in the Tesla app..oh well

That appears to be a V4 cabinet….there aren’t many of those around, especially in the US.

Where is this one located?

You may want to try a Supercharger again in your EV6.

As of April 1, Hyundai/Kia/Genesis are officially supported at V3/V4 Superchargers (250KW+) and we charged our GV60 at one last weekend without any problems.

Max charging speed is only 97KW, but that level is maintained all the way to 85+% SOC.

something interesting is going on here

this afternoon around 1 pm PDT in my Tesla app w/Porsche Taycan selected as my "vehicle" - it showed most of the supercharger network as available chargers in the app section called: "Charge your other EV" - I know this because I was super excited about the post and checked the app immediately before posting my reply…time stamp 12:58 pm PDT

fast forward to now 2:38 pm PDT - and those chargers that I saw listed on the map in my local area no longer listed…(41st street Capitolia, and Whole Foods Santa Cruz, and a whole mess of superchargers in the silly-con valley area)

I know this because I was preparing to go out and test if I could supercharge my Macan - but now local supercharger sites that were shown to me around 1 pm PDT - are no longer shown…only the one MagicDock site in Scotts Valley is still shown in the app

this is deterministically different that what I was shown at around 1 pm!

hmmmmm…

YMMV - this may have been a "glitch" with the network temporarily "available" to other vendors…

I would suggest proceeding with caution if you are planning on relying on Tesla superchargers as part of your travel planning with a VW/Audi/Porsche vehicle…

the map showing accessible superchargers in the Tesla app is different right now than it was 1.5 hours ago…

I'm going to test at the following two NACS partner sites…

911 Soquel Avenue
Santa Cruz, CA 95062

2001 41st Avenue
Capitola, CA 95010

I factually know and have successfully charger at the following MagicDock site with both a 2020 Taycan Turbo and 2024 Macan EV Turbo

230 Mount Hermon Road
Scott's Valley, CA 95066

I'll report my results when I have them.

If you go to here, Tesla says Hyundai and Genesis ARE supported but not KIA: NACS | Tesla

That having been said, this whole situation appears to be erratic, irregular and unpredictable (aka as Muskian)....it looks like the KIA will be chargeable soon but I'd be surprised if my Taycan works at non-magic dock Superchargers any time soon. Be happy to be wrong tho!

as of right now the Tesla support websites shows the following list of vehicle's allowed to charger at North American superchargers:

_IF_ this is working for you - I would suggest it's a glitch/anomaly vs. an actual evolution of the network allowing VW/Audi/Porsche vehicles…

I'm going to head out and see if I can replicate this result locally at my superchargers - I'll report back.

In the KIA EV6 forum some people report success charging...seems to be limited and random..so perhaps limited testing is occurring? Maybe same thing for Taycan?

That picture clearly shows a V4 post/pedestal which by definition has an integrated Magic Dock adapter.
If that adapter is activated (which it is not at some small percentage of V4 stations) then a CCS1 driver can use a separate adapter instead of the integrated adapter (which of course is a totally pointless substitution).

I can not reproduce this result with my 2024 Macan EV Turbo @ 911 Soquel Avenue, Santa Cruz, CA 95062

NO JOY - Supercharger can not be activated for me at this site with a NACS/CCS1 adapter…using the Tesla App to activate stall 1B at 15:30h on this date.

again no joy - I can not reproduce this result at 2001 41st Avenue, Capitola, CA 95010

but I got a new an interesting error in the Tesla app…

Your vehicle can not charge at this time
