Hey all -

Just placed the attached order with my local dealer (US) @ MSRP. My SA claims he will definitely have allocations before end of Sept and assured delivery in Q1 2023. I know many dealers are BS'ing buyers on allocations although as he is a neighbor of mine so I tend to believe him and says he personally deals with all Taycan allocations at the dealership. This will be my first EV and first new Porsche build. Any suggestions on the process? Changes would make to the build?

Main options that I struggled with were:

- 20" Taycan Turbo Aero Wheels Vs 20" Taycan Sport Aero Wheels
- Left out Technology package, mainly because I felt I was over-optioning a "4s"
-

Charging:

I didn't add the Porsche mobile charger connect as I will install one of the below outdoors for charging as I don't garage the car.

https://www.chargepoint.com/drivers/home/chargepoint-home-flex (Chargepoint Home Flex)
https://www.bulbs.com/product/JUICEBOX-48-HARDWIRE (Enel X Juicebox 48A)

Any feedback is greatly appreciated.

Standard PMC+ charger has an outdoor rating (IP56 from memory) not that I'd recommend it. My neighbour has his PMCC installed outside and fully open to the elements which has no weather protection.

I would drop the Electric Sport Sound - tedious and never used now.

Pano VLC - not sure there's a real benefit over standard (heat suppression is already good and heat is more of a concern from the standard glass - sides, front and rear

Use the money for Rear Axle Steering including Power Steering Plus - a must have IMHO.

Extended leather rather than standard - a lot of plastic.

I'd also drop the Race Tex apart from the B-Pillars.

Another vote for Rear Axe Steering and wxtended leather (but i’d keep sports sound).
also, check ambient lights. I made a mistake and I miss lights under open door(s).
are you sure thst you need 4+1 seats? I’d never buy +1 again.

Thanks for the feedback!

Electric Sports Sound: I agree its an element just for show and have no problem dropping it. As a petrol head, coming from a BMW M6 - I thought it would ease the transition.

Pano VLC: I see your point - this is an expensive option that while looks very cool when operating, is probably not worth the expense. I will consider removing as well.

Rear Axle Steering including Power Steering Plus: I did not consider this originally although just read up and indeed seems a must. I did see the Rear Axle Steering option although the PSP was only part of the performance package I thought. Will look again.

Leather rather than Standard: This is good feedback - I have heard mixed reviews, many say the standard is good enough and others had your same feedback. Would be good to see how many second that opinion!

Race Tex: I mainly added this as I went with the standard interior - agree that with the leather, its not needed throughout. What are your thoughts on the steering wheel?

Thanks

I have been looking for ambience light option and couldn't find it so assumed its a standard feature in current builds. Will look again - thanks

Leather for the wheel too but could live with either.

It’s not for show…it’s good to warn pedestrians, animals, byciclists…

Interesting - I thought it was mainly heard inside - didn't know it could be heard outside as well.

Nope. There are additional speakers, mounted outside.
there’s a photo (and some sketches) somewhere in the forum.

Base interior is pretty good, but the full leather is a noticeable step up, especially in two tone. I ordered the chalk/black two tone on my car (still waiting to be shipped), since I saw the interior in person on a dealer car and really liked it

Race tex Headliner is nice but expensive, especially since coverage isn't as much with a pano roof. I hate race tex / alcantara wheels, had it on my past Camaro SS 1LE and it gets matted pretty fast and feels gross. Yes, you can try to brush and maintain it, but I wouldn't do it for high hand touch point areas. Leather you can easily just wipe it to clean it

Bottom line is that I'd trade your interior upgrades (race tex headliner + wheel, aluminum pedals, silver trim, crests) in order to get full leather, as I think that will have a bigger impact on how nice the interior is. You'll interact with the upgraded leather touch points far more often than you'll notice aluminum pedals, silver vs black trim (both are still plastic anyways), and crests which you won't see since you're facing forward when entering the car

Separately, would trade thermal/noise glass for rear axle steering. Otherwise think you have a nice build here

Thoughts on the Chalk leather interior?

Its obviously a matter of opinion although although have yet to see it in person and not sure of the durability. I have had light interiors in BMW's before with no issues and looked great.

Thanks Will - I am indeed considering upgrading to the Black/Chalk leather interior. Will go by my dealer in a few days to see it in a car. Considering your other suggestions as well - I liked the Race-tex although am worried about the wear so will not chose the steering wheel in that fabric.

Agree Rear Axle Steer is a must.

We have standard interior in black and for us it's just fine and no regrets at all. If you are worried about having any regret, go for the leather.

Over 90% of our driving is daily commuting and we top off every night at home (@ $.014 / KWh). After 13K miles, we have never needed the big battery even after several road trips. On one trip (Atlanta - Tampa) modeled in ABRP, the big battery would have gotten us there about 15-20 minutes faster. Some argue that PB+ has better resale value but that's yet to be proven.

Really like the colored Porsche Logo inserts on the wheels.

Get the dealer to throw in the clear side markers.

Finally a big fan of massage seats (after the test drive, it's what got my wife's final "go for it" on the car)

I looked at tons of used ones. They are hard to buy bc they are so configurable and everyone has diff priorities.

For me, the extended leather was minimum requirement. If nothing else you get the nice extra stitching along the dash and doors and it makes it look so much better. I’m glad you added the sport chrono - the steering wheel is totally worth it plus you get launch control. I’m also a fan of HUD’s in general so got the tech, but you can also get it standalone.

Hopefully you aren’t buying the assurance on the timing of delivery. No dealer (or even Porsche themselves) can make that claim. Car is nice though ?
