My wife is worried the Taycan Turbo gives her motion sickness. She didn’t feel unwell at all in the 4s

She was on an empty stomach when we took out the turbo. Could be related to low blood sugar or just her state of nutrition at that point?

I test drove a plaid yesterday and after two hard acceleration bursts, I felt what she felt. Really tired but just in your head, yawning constantly. Just a little sick. Not a good feeling at all. I too was on an empty stomach. I haven’t eaten in six hours or more. We dropped it in the chill mode put the suspension on the softest setting but the ride was still quite jarring.

When I got back into my older performance Tesla, and I did a few hard acceleration runs, I felt fine. Air suspension no choppiness. Sure the plaid is faster but the acceleration g’s are 1.38 vs 1.14 or something like that. For me, it seems more like the suspension. It’s a choppy ride. Not great at all. Wh/km seemed high as well at 220 incl a lot of “chill” mode.

the loaded up 4s was fine for both of us. Someone mentioned some thing about it Porsche , dynamic control, or something on the higher end models? Could that be a factor in motion sickness?

People get benign motion sickness for a variety of reasons mostly related to your inner ear and the relationship to what you see visually.
That's why people get "sea sick".
It has nothing to do specifically with the Taycan, it can and does happen with any mode of transportation/movement.
Car sickness rarely happens to the driver because they are "driving" and their brain knows what to expect. Not true for passengers if they are prone to motion sickness.
Sorry I don't have any advice for you other then try and enjoy the Taycan as much as possable.

I find the instant torque creates sensations that are different than most ICE cars..perhaps a lighter touch on the throttle might "cure" this issue?!#

Anyways, as the driver, no probs with the Turbo. My wife, as a passenger, not so happy.
Mostly b/ breaking. Tesla was worse (b/ one pedal drive).

Two things that help:
1. pills
2. coast/ sail and don't break harshly (which means: don't accel so much)

Orthopaedic surgeon. Don’t know much about motion sickness but I do fix broken bones if everything has gone wrong (but not to much)

EVs are fun for the driver but the harder they accelerate the worse for the passenger. Like mentioned above: the driver knows what will happen and can anticipate, the passenger can’t. It’s not nice to sit passively and wait for the next whiplash moment.

In general EV are more prone to give motion sickness.

Doing anything on an empty stomach can cause nausea. So probably challenging your wife to a stressy situation with an empty stomach is not a good idea.

At Porsche Experience Atlanta, I was told the new track causes sickness 65% of the time; 25% at the old track. I don't have the statistic for EV only-but I can tell you that full throttle acceleration in Taycan GTS, followed immediately by full ABS braking to a stop, did induce nausea with me-and I was already on a therapeutic dose of ginger (Dramamine ginger)because I knew the g's might cause a problem. Generally I don't have a problem with seasickness, even in rough seas (beaufort 7)

I feel inner ear pressure when accelerating in EVs, though it doesn't lead to sickness. Nothing like that from gas cars, even fast ones.

Based on the feedback so far, I highly recommend that you take your wife out to a nice dinner, hold her hand, and tell her how much you love her. After that, perhaps a capacinno.

Now, go for a ride in the Taycan. If she gets nauseous (unlikely with the food and drink) at least she'll know you had her best interests in mind. ?

Same here - PhD (not useful kind), PECLA Driving Experience, slight nausea while taking Dramamine.

No one at the track was surprised, and they had a concession refrigerator full of Ginger Ale for just this situation. Had to cut a few drives a bit short, but always got back on the track after a short break - was having too much fun ?

I’m away with my lovely wife this weekend but will definitely reply and catch up as soon as I’m back home. I’m really thinking the nausea was caused or worsen by our empty stomach but can’t want to do some more “research” in the name of good health. ?

LOL, been there, done that. I imagine it would be even worse as a passenger. Guess I could never be Top Gun.

Do either the 4S or the Turbo have the performance pack with PDCC and RWS? PDCC creates a bit of a “skyhook” effect by dampening roll and pitch. RWS changes the yaw vector as well. I have it and love it but neither me or my wife suffer from motion sickness.
