What? Have you ever heard of the Panamera, Cayenne, or Macan? :CWL:

There are more of all of those model on dealer lots than Taycans. And if you just go back to normal times in the 5-10 year historical period, there were more than that many 911s and Caymans in stock. When I bought my 2016 Spyder at the very end of the run, there were close to 100 brand new cars on dealer lots. And when I bought my Cayman S and 911S during the prior year, I had at least a dozen of each to choose from on my own dealer’s lot alone.

Currently, my dealer has seven Taycans. They have 18 Cayennes and 36 Macans.
Yep, and owned everyone of them BUT in UK there is never stock other than a showroom car which typically can't be sold until there is a replacement. Ergo, we have waiting lists for all models until a month ago (unless you are fussy).

Regional variations and dealer inventory is very much region specific. UK is normally a waiting game.

Porsche raised prices across the board, not just the Taycan.

And the Taycan was never intended to be a volume seller like the SUVs. It was targeted to sell like the Panamera, which is even less than the 911. If you recall, original volume estimates were only 10k units, which it exceeded and surprisingly challenged the 911. The Taycan has exceeded all expectations over its first three years of production. Sales are slowing for obvious reasons: end of model run, higher interest rates, and the lumpiness of EV adoption. None of which are surprising. Porsche’s Taycan issues were further compounded by all the delays getting cars to buyers over the last year.
Good to know. I thought they were aiming at Tesla S.

I am indeed - they are not great though are they? What possible benefit is an SUV over a decent estate car?
The fact that it's available? (As in "offered for sale, as part of the lineup").

As far as I can tell, the only wagons still on sale in the US are from Volvo, Porsche and .. Audi? All the others have become "all terrain".

Do you not have Audi S/Rs 4 and 6 estates? Dare I mention the B* word? BMW 3/5 series estates?

Audi went allroad, and I *think* they're still selling the wagons, though I can't be bothered to check.
BMW cut the wagon after the E61 (mid-'00 5er), and carried on with wagons for the 3er until mid-'10s.

MB sold here the E Klasse wagon - lovely car - but even that's been made "all terrain". Subaru Legacy also became Outback-only. Buick had a nice take of the Opel Something, and beyond that it's a bare landscape. Most Americans don't like wagons - must be some form of PTSD from the 70s.

I am not regretting anything. I will just be disappointed if there is not much snow this winter. I half of my cross turismo is my winter warrior. I am looking at my next dream car. I wish that Aston Martin have more entry level Mid engine car like the Valkyrie. Again my thing is swinging between cab forward style or the LeMan racer style. Maybe the next Boxter will have the LeMan racer style. That would be perfect. I believe that i will never able to get a car like Valkyrie or Pagani in my lifetime. Let's hope that this turn into another i can't believe that I was just saying that i can't afford it just a few months ago experience haha. But if the next Boxter/Cayman do look cool and has EV/Gas option. No question ask, I will get Gas for sure.

Now THIS is a wagon from the 90's!! My sons loved driving it to concerts. They would set the back gate down and grill with a hibachi, and they would put folding chairs on the roof ?

Totally forgot the MC20. If anything happen to my car and i pray to god that i get a full cheque from insurance. I think that i will save up and try to get a MC20, the question is if i can afford to save for the convertible or settle for the coupe. Oh well, luxury tax will be an extra bummer at those price range.

I respectfully disagree. My Cayenne Diesel was the best vehicle I have ever owned. It was truly great.

My A6 Allroad makes only the most minor concessions to Crossover status. The plastic body cladding is barely perceptible with the black optics package and black exterior color (with various options for officially matching paint). The adjustable height suspension gets it down to the A6 level if so desired, but can get jacked up decently for unplowed snow and/or unpaved parking.

The A4 Allroad (previously just "Allroad" sans alpha numerical prefix during the A6 hiatus) is permanently jacked up, although it's still far more of a compact wagon that a Crossover.

Volvo, IIRC, now sells only the permanently jacked-up version of the mid-sized wagon, but the compact wagon is available as a definitive wagon. Either way though, their Crossover aspects are relatively mild.

I looked at the MB E class wagon briefly last year. Its pricing and features were an exact match for the A6 Allroad, except that it was always lifted. But IIRC, that is changing for the next model yr?

The Buick wagon version of Opel coulda been a contender. I had been looking at the hatchback version when I was looking at the VW Arteon. Glad I didn't make that mistake, since the Buick reliability ended up taking a deep dive, whereas the Arteon was VW at its finest (a vehicle with the interior size of the A7 at half the price of the A7, with quality and performance way better than the North American Passat). And in general the Buick version seemed like something that someone had once thought was a good idea, and then when that person left the scene for somewhere, everyone else was wondering what was going on with that project (especially once GM no longer owned Opel).

I remember when the Subaru Legacy wagon was actually a ... wagon. Now though it is definitely in full-blown Crossover territory. Super popular here in New England. Not that 99% of Outback drivers ever need that much lift. But whatever, still a practical vehicle with outstanding value for the money and solid reliability. Which makes you wonder why other companies don't try to compete with it?

And yes, I too have PTSD from other families' wagons in the 1970s! I was always a sedan guy, but the Arteon got me to appreciate hatches (whether hidden as sedans or full-blown wagons), and also served as the gateway drug to Audi and other expensive German marques.

I don’t think you have answered the Q! I can see no benefits of an SUV over say an A4/6 S4/6 RS4/6 Avant or Allroad. In my experience internal space is compromised, handling and performance not so great but as always each to their own. I’m just saying I don’t get it!!
