Hi all
Having up a garage clean up and came across the former which was supplied with my first Taycan(RWD) and the latter with my Taycan 4S replacement about 18 months later.
Never used but can anyone please simplify any difference between them.
TIA

The "Plus" is a simpler unit; with no screen or "smart" capabilities. It is limited to 11kW on 3-phase supplies. The "Connect" unit has a screen, can be controlled by Energy Manager, supports Plug & Charge (no PIN for known cars) and can upload charging stats to your MyPorsche account.

This unit coming out next month is probably going to be much better:

Thanks Tigerbalm. I have a wall box so never been used. Simply wondered what the difference was. Thanks!

oh oh oh I like the wall box unit - that's NEW!!! Nice designe

_IF_ porsche brought that unit to North American and make it universal (like the Tesla Universal Unit - NACS & J-1772) - that would become my "goto" wall mounted EVSE…

I can't wait to see if that unit makes it to North American and doesn't suck....it's very very gratifying to see Porsche iterating in this space - means they are not done yet and actually "engaged" in evolving their offerings…

I'm super excited.

did I metnion how good it looks????

this is a _GREAT_ feature set for an EVSE…I'm missing powersharing - but I think Porsche in Europe get that from their HEM integration (which is sadly not an option in North America) - I'm going to watch this product roll out (as best I can from North America) with great interest

Any forum members that go forward with this please post your thoughts and findings!!!

Of course in north America this unit would be max 19.2 kW (22 kW is not a thing in North American for residential EV charging)

Technical data:
  • Charging capacity: up to 22 kW (AC)On the vehicle side: 7 m type 2 cable Connectivity: LTE, WiFi, EthernetInstallation: securely installed to a wall or pillarMonitoring: via My Porsche appAccess control options: RFID card, Plug & Charge, My Porsche appHas an energy meter Dimensions: length 59.2 cm (23.3 in), width 37.0 cm (14.6 in), height 14.8 cm (5.8 in) Weight: 9.82 kg (21.65 lbs

It does look...no doubt!

However in the UK, and I may be being presumtious here, most that home charge will have a non-porsche EVSE wall box? That was certainly pushed by my OPC at the time!

If i had understood correctly and had my time again, I would probably just have had a commando socket placed and used the Porsche EVSE

no I actually like it - looks good in my opinion and the feature set appears well done - if it's the product the spec's promise it's an excelletn wall mounted EVSE…

Porsche may be slow to admit their mistakes, but when they iterate they generally move forward to "better" - their new products which lack previous problems is the onlly admission they screwed up they you will ever get from them…

What's the delta between this new wallbox and PWCC? I'm already leveraging the 19.2kw power out of PWCC and what else would I get if I switched to this wallbox?

It does look slim and lightweight for sure!

ethernet - and the "look" - there is no "functional" difference…charging speed would be identical.

Don’t you mean he would get an actual charger that might actually work?
There has never been an issue with the 3-phase PMCC here in Europe.

The new wallbox also supports optional 4G/LTE connectivity- which for folks like me that do not have Ethernet or WiFi at my charger location offers some new possibilities.

Looks like they removed support for Powerline Ethernet which was pretty useful for me, both chargers that come with the Taycan has that feature and i used it in my apartment building, i was able to connect to the charger at the underground garage from my apartment at the 3rd floor.
