I guess with this new "virtual eject" thing, it no longer makes sense to keep the car plugged into during long-term parking, since the cable is virtually disconnected after the charge level is reached.
Sounds like it

Must be a US feature. I still push the 'eject' button to release post charge (car is always left locked). All updates applied apart from AMB5 which is tomorrow.
Good luck with the update tomorrow. Going by the comments of our fellow forum members, it seems to be a rather unproblematic one. I have mine on Thursday.

Yep. ~1.5 hours Saturday for mine - no issues.

team - well it’s been a while since I’ve heard anyone note/mention a 12V death - I know it hasn’t happened to my Taycan since the update - anyone out there had a 12V death issue post update?

otherwise I‘m gaining confidence Porsche may have nailed this one down and we can call it “fixed”.

this makes me happy.
Post-update power failure this morning - zero power, completed dead. Awaiting diagnostic results from Porsche.

No more issues from me since update. I've also noticed phantom drain is completely gone. And can confirm the charger unlocks when it hits my desired charge and I don't have to press the button for release.

Does this "auto-eject" behaviour mean that if I daily charge to 85%, and that completes/unlocks, but then I want to remotely start a 100% direct charge for a roadtrip, I have to go down to the car and re-seat the cable? Or will it just re-lock and start charging?

If your charging profile is set to 85%, you would have to either select 'Direct Charge' on the app or center screen, or go to a different profile.

So, that must be yet another 12V issue than the one corrected by the earlier big software update. Any news from Porsche yet?
Nope.

Porsche advised software patch/update resolved the dead 12V problem - replacement not needed. Car still out of service for other issue.

Regarding the unlock of the charging cable. If you plug into a public charger and go in to a restaurant, store, etc; if the charging is complete and it unlocks, then someone could pull the charger out of the car. My concern here was what if I am using my Tesla Tap Mini? Couldn't they in theory steal my Tesla Tap?
