Aside from checking the SOS light isn't flashing red, what are the main things i need to:
a) Check are okay.
b) Essential features / controls i should get the Sales guy to show me how to use.

Do not leave the dealership without logging into the car with your own Porsche Connect ID to ensure all is well. Should be part of the standard handover procedure.

Confirm all campaigns and current safely recalls have been applied.

After that expect the odd niggle here and there but most of all ENJOY!

A good sales man will spend 20 mins walking through settings. The first thing you do when you sit in it is log on with your Porsche Id. Make sure the password is not too complex. I had a 24 digit one and it just wouldn't accept even though we were typing it in correctly. I had to reset it on my phone app and do something shorter.

I would also suggest you look at YouTube as there are some great dealer videos where they walk you through the dash. It means when your sales guy does it is more familiar.

+1 and I spent a decent amount of time mucking about with the online PCM simulator to familiarize myself with key menu items and some obscurely located functions!

as other have said, get your PCM logged in and phone connected via bluetooth then have them put it into sport plus and enjoy.

Yes.

What @W1NGE said! Or give them your user name and a throwaway password for them to set it all up the day before…. Then change the password when you pick up the car.

Automatic uses your PIN once and then never asks whereas the latter just logs in without a PIN.
