Is everyone rebuilding accident damaged cars on YouTube now?

Helps pay for the restoration perhaps?
And the rest for the most prolific.

There are a couple now repairing Veyrons, SF90s, McLaren P1s and on the face of it making a fortune. Feels like some are latching onto a trend....

Making money by duplicating others who made good money (or at least made it appear as if they did) has always been a trend. Also cars as status symbols have been a trend since cars were invented. Of course being an "influencer" as a profession appears to many very glamourous, similar to being an actor - doing easy and fun things while getting rich. Combine all these, and no wonder if someone says to the world that they managed to drive an expensive exotic car for free (remember original Rich Rebuilds rebuilding a Model S at a net profit after selling off remaining parts), that it appeals to others to try. After Rich Rebuilds original build, salvage Tesla prices went up in auctions. YouTube starts plenty of trends every year, often resulting in that hobby prices going up.

I just love these vids.
Thanks for sharing!
Especially if it's a Taycan or other cars I own.
I follow Matt Armstrong for a few years now and it's amazing how he climbed up the ladder.
He's working on a Veyron now...

PS RE Performance (engine builds of supercars) is very informative and entertaining as well and he often helps Matt Armstrong with his diagnosis of cars.

Me too. I often use such videos as references whenever I decide to dive into my car to improve it to my liking. It is really helpful to see how to remove certain pieces, and what things look like underneath various panels, before attempting to do it myself. I don't do videos, I take a lot of pictures but mostly for myself (helps me put it back together). Sometimes I decide to spend the time to do a little writeup for others like this or that - nowhere near to the level any of these videos go though, and my car usually starts in working order, so the mods are to enhance it (again, to my liking, not everyone wants to modify their tail lights to house a lidar jammer for example) rather than fix it.

Mat Armstrong has been doing it for ages. And Backyardboyz (although he's quit I think), goonzquad have also been going a while. The US ones are sometimes irritating but they do a lot of work to be fair to them. Brad Holmes is quite an interesting one to watch.

Kudos to him for doing it. Just worried he’s going to find the battery has been damaged and that’s a major issue. Maybe why Pt2 has not arrived.

Not sure this goes here, but wasn't sure exactly where to place it. More info on disassembling a Taycan than I've seen previously.

That was pretty amazing, TBH.

"I have no experience" and ends up doing a better job than Porsche centers I've used.

"I have no experience, but have passion" often beats "I took a course, but would rather be doing something else". Whenever interviewing new hires, I always look for the passion and desire to learn, over pure experience. Experience you can backfill, passion not so much.

Can’t help feeling manufacturers design cars to discourage working on them. Why should you need to take the back seats out to remove the dashboard for example?

Didn’t know about the bonnet/hood moving up to protect pedestrians in an accident though. And don’t have the HUD but had assumed there would also be a coating on the windscreen to improve brightness, having worked in the past on aircraft HUDs but maybe not.
