I came from a new RS6... Reputably the 'best fast wagon' on the road...

The masses are wrong. My ST is a better car all round. It just is.

The only thing holding these cars back is the EV stigma given by true 'petrol heads'... But wait, im a petrol head and I love it.

Very much my opinion too.
I have been a petrol head for 60 years too

Oh the vehicle is absolutely just drop dead gorgeous. When my son falls asleep I tend to make long detours through some of my favorite mountain passes

Not sure I do anything "crazy," but I have definitely run a few extra errands whenever my wife asks. I've also become much more amenable to driving further away for dinner, which was previously a pet peeve of mine. :) The Taycan just drives so well - so much better - compared to any other car I've owned.

I live in Cornwall and I use an excuse that ‘I need to see the sea’ when my wife has been out all day and I have been a dog sitter. In reality I parked outside Rick Stein’s fish and chip shop in Padstow and what did I see? A white CT! It was all a good ruse to get out in my CT4S - the chips were a bonus. The simple pleasures of retired living.

Before you say yes, here me out..

Besides the many other threads with complaints (where I am also active), I thought it was time for a positive thread. I've had my Taycan for 1.5 years now. It sits in the driveway (I work from home) and I see it through the kitchen window. Almost every day, I catch myself staring at it. The Taycan is just too beautiful, right? Do you do that too? Or, for example, when it's parked at the store and you come outside, you see it and think, "That's mine!"

Are there others who sometimes deliberately take a longer route just to drive it a bit more? Or am I crazy?

What is your craziest habit or thought regarding this car?
Yes sometimes I drive the long way home after my work just because ?

Not crazy at all. Taycan is a visceral treat. The handling, appearance and emotional appeal is all top notch. I still can’t help but steal glances at my own car and take way too many photos of it after a year of ownership.

I just love driving mine. I don't look at the outside a lot but love the Mamba, I actually mainly enjoy the Blackberry interior with Neodym highlights, a non-obvious choice which I really love, after all the interior is the bit I personally see most.

I had a quick drive on my favourite back road to the motorway yesterday just for fun and got a bit carried away - what an amazing handling car, particularly considering its weight, I felt the rear wheel steer, torque vectoring and PDCC were worth the price. I probably only had the chance of full throttle for about 10 seconds, confirming more power than the 4S would have been a pointless extravagance for me round here.

Once on the motorway it was a comfortable cruise but not really any fun...
Absolutely agree the 4S is the sweetest of the range. Had a Turbo S for 4 hours and was underwhelmed. My 992 Turbo S is a big step up from a 992 4S but the Taycan 4S is so smooth and power delivery is immediate.

I've "forgotten" to buy items at the store and drove back.
I've decided we "needed" something from the store we definitely didn't need.
I've regularly checked the mail KNOWING there isn't any just to walk through the garage to see the car.
I've looked at pictures of the car on my phone when on vacation away from it.
I've picked slower routes home because they were more fun to drive in the car.
Sooo, no. Nothing crazy ?‍♂

I did decide I'd bought the correct daily when I got home after commuting (in heavy traffic) and thinking "I want to keep driving."

I've been trying to stay away from this thread ("let me out of here! i'm surrounded by lunatics!"), but this resonated deeply. On day 2 of my inaugural trip home with the Taycan, after ~15 hrs and over 900 miles, I wanted to keep going. Upon arriving at home, my sadness of having to stop exceeded my relief of completing the journey.

These days, picking my ride of the day is tough; I'd like to drive both my cars, everywhere and all the time. And every longer trip is a balance of "great to be in this one, but <some aspect> would've been better in the other".

(Huh; turns out, I, too, am a bit crazy.)

I'm afraid I don't like turbo IC engines because of lag.
The new GTS with E-Turbo will be much better if it works like the (soon to be banned) Formula 1 turbos but otherwise I have not been a fan.
Mind you it is many years since I abandoned looking at turbo cars when I was so disappointed by the 993 turbo and there will probably have been improvements.

Yep, the Taycan is one of the best looking sedans out there. Over this past weekend, I went to my dealer and they have a '25 parked next to a '24, and all I can say is they have messed up the look (to me). One thing I love about the Taycan is it doesn't look like an EV, but not so with the refresh model. Even the Mission E wheels look worse because it's not as "open" as the original, which I think while more aerodynamic, is no where as attractive. So, I am going to be holding on to mine for a while.
I agree with you on all points! Prefer the 20-24 generation, looks-wise.

Unless something changes, it looks like I'll be moving on to a different vehicle after this Taycan.

That quote made me smile......

Sort of the same (but complete opposite) of my thinking, once the warranty ends next month:

Its like getting engaged to a beautiful, sex mad girl, but who you suspect might be starting to smoke Crack.

?
Anyway, warranty extended - so I'll take the risk and enjoy a 4th year of the relationship, including free coffee at the dealers every time she's being fixed.
YES!
Everything seems to be going well with her, except you live in fear that any day now you might return home and find that she's turned the place into a crack den.

I’m sitting in the garage admiring my car as I read this thread. It’s been nearly 3 years and the car has shown some weathering from winters up in the mountains and some small blemishes from the 46k miles of driving. It is no garage queen. We drive it on ski trips, to the track, and daily commutes the long way through some windy roads. I’ve got two stacks of tires next to it to make sure I’ve got optimal running gear for the conditions I drive. Still admire it like I did when we first got it.

My wife is going to pull into the drive way any minute now and give me a knowing look. And yes she thinks I’m a bit crazy.

......and worried that one day she is going to clear out your bank account for a tiny bit of crack/dent (hardly greater than 3mm ?).
