I was in Mercedes focus groups for this car in 2022.

It's supposed to be 1000hp. Taycan and Plaid were the benchmark

They are betting on the Yasa Axial flux motor technology.

I don't think any non Chinese OEM is going to try to compete with Chinese OEMs. It's not possible.

It's a car for the markets that Chinese cars are not in.

Just look at the BYD Denza Z for $42k? How can any German brand compete with that?

But those brands are coming to EU. BYD will build cars in europe, and they will compete on price and quality. That technology will be in EU in the next 2 years, 100%.

Now, for USA, who knows. Maybe not in an official manner, but Canada and Mexico are not off the table, and driving a car across the border has been done before.

Considering the EQS front fake grill and plastics, won’t be better or aggressive than the Taycan! They will obviously win with the range..but the car per se, will be the next flop like the other electric models!

An EQXXX inspired design, same headlights, under the AMG brand, not Mercedes

We have a crossroads coming.

The danger with the current path is that Chinese companies kill all non-Chinese competition and then our markets are hostage.

Yes, there are lessons to be learned from Japanese inroads into the motorcycle and car markets. But I think we also need to assume that China is nowhere near as benign in its wider objectives.

Yes THIS......frankly if its not at least 1,500 HP it will not garner much interest especially at the crazy price its likely to be asking. That's just today's reality as insane as that would have sounded just a couple of years ago!

Mercedes 4 motor packaging and dynamics were blowing back beards in 2013. Even Chris Harris was impressed. Sadly Dr Z threw their lead in the weeds.

Interior shots revealed with lots of screens. The new Mercedes interior design is going to a flat dash, full of screens.
Definitely prefer the Taycans elegant interior better.

Once it comes out, I will definitely check it out, as it looks interesting to me so far. That said, somehow over many year and many cars that I've owned, Mercedes was always in consideration but never came up top choice. When I was buying the Taycan, the top 3 were: Taycan Turbo CT, Lucid Air Sapphire, AMG EQS. I was 2 weeks away from locking in a Sapphire build order when I stumbled upon a configurable Taycan Turbo CT allocation (after over a year of looking for one, being on more wait-lists than I can count on).
