I love the authority some suggest when they state things. Priceless.

I have ANA6 and the associated stop-delivery. My "part 1" also did not take the first time but did the second. Parts two and three were applied successfully as well first go. The dealer feels confident that all relevant updates (and uPdates) have been applied to my Dec 21 build. Total time was well over expected or "quoted" given the necessary re-do. The car now has the typical massive suite of codes and errors that come with a multi-module update. After a night of charging they'll need to spend a couple hours on a full sleep/reset/test drive and then they'll do a couple other campaigns (interior alarm, etc). Sounds like tomorrow might be the earliest anyone gets their car back. I'll let you know if you PCM has a colorful display.

If this needs to be done 75,000 times, then yeah, I can see why the board chucked the CEO over "software bugs".

This is all SUPER discouraging. Given that my 2022 PCM basically had a seizure/was barely functional for a week after internal alarm sensor was changed (2 visits/many hours to reset/fix)….I gotta tell you folks my car works very well now and I’m not touching this update for months at least.

Yes, but is the ANA6 update really the MY23 PCM update? Or does it just fix flickering screens?
WNJ8 is the PCM and enhanced functionality - announced 22/7 and on release 25/7.

ANA6 which predates this is the safety recall for flickering screens etc.

ANA6 is not WNJ8 - the latter is for all 75K cars and the former is not.

I think the stop-sale affected and first-to-schedule folks (sorry @DerekS) are going to experience the longest turnarounds, while techs get to grips with this update.

Sucks to be without the car for longer than expected. When I get mine done mid August, I’ll be conservative and assume the job could bleed into the second day.
My update is scheduled September 1st and my dealer already booked two days for it so your assumption, is according to my Porsche dealer, right.

I still find it absolutely shocking that a software patch can take 2 days.

Can you think of any other consumer device that requires taking it back to update?
Or that takes anywhere near this long?

My Tesla-enthusiast friend finds all this hilarious.

I truly hope the update does allow for OTA updates going forward.
Otherwise the more Taycans they sell, the more they are DDOSing their own service bays.

I am a person who -hates- not having my car, and staying out of the service bay was a big reason I wanted to go EV.

I guess I am a bit crabby this morning as I can't get my daily coffee without a car...but I said before this is hopefully the release that forgives all.

Buy a coffee machine. Only kidding!

Yes it’s a pain, I have been without my car for over 3 weeks…..it’s a long story….. so I understand not wanting to be without it. But thankfully I have a couple of ICEs to use.

Totally hear you. I think back to the days of $500+ just to get a maps update for the PCM nav. Time elapsed was a 2 hour service appointment, perhaps with a PCM update, but mostly a tech feeding one or two DVDs and occasionally pecking through the install sequence. Actual time of the tech actively engaged with the car was a handful of minutes. I perceived that cost as Dealers/OPCs charging for you for the time occupied in a service bay.

By comparison, early accounts peg this update at 6 hours time elapsed, but with a lot of manual steps. That accounts for the 1 day estimate. If anything goes wrong (or the tech missteps) then some or all of the process would need to be repeated, which at 2x6 hours modulo 1 day puts you at two business days. 6 hours is still pretty long but I’ll bet it’s not a tech toiling, 100% engaged for 2 full business days.

It would be interesting to see those 67 steps laid out. Could be consoling, or infuriating!

I agree - hopefully this is the biggie that puts us in good stead for future OTA updates that obviate the need for service visits.

OMG those were NIGHTMARES.

Once they ended up ordering a completely new PCM, claiming mine just wouldn't work.

Another time the job was completed but my test proved it was running the old maps and had to get redone.

I am really happy every time I see a "maps updated" popup now!

Dropped off today. ETA 2-3 days. The dealer just completed the first one. As usual, some cars take longer to do than others and some crash 1/2 way during the update and have to be restarted. The 2nd time around usually takes. The good news is that the dealer now has a copy of the update on a USB drive and can move from car to car much quicker. So just like any other computer, boot car from a USB drive and run an update. Just amazing.

Big thanks to Porsche for not leaving us early adopters behind. :like:

I agree! This is a morale outrage of the highest order! Shocked!! Shocked I tell you! More shocked than when I was shocked by something that I thought I would never be out-shocked by!

I do hope that I recover from this complete and utter shock. It is shocking!

Wait, an ELECTRIC car issue SHOCKED me! Now, that is SHOCKING!

Can you confirm this is ANA6 and NOT the WNJ8 or the uPdate?
