Any point to using sunshade when you have a glass roof?

So, DC is boiling today. I have the sun and sound insulated glass, and as I was walking away, it struck me as odd to use my sunshade when my entire roof is glass. Does it help enough to bother with this? For my Model X, I have a sun mesh in a wire frame that slips into ceiling glass and really helps. Anyone seen that for CT or is it not needed. (I preconditioned so couldn’t tell).

The glass not only does not well block the infrared (heat) but also does not completely block the harmful ultraviolet and blue rays which promote aging changes and skin cancer. The screen makes you feel more comfortable since the heat does not directly hit your skin, but the heat energy is already inside the car when it hits the screen so it does increase the air temperature in the vehicle.

I have always used sunshades but in my taycan I had ceramic tint installed all around instead (including the windshield in 70% so basically clear) and with about 3 minutes of preconditioning my vehicle is always cool. And the ceramic tint protects the leather and everything from the harmful UV rays. I'm in South Florida so we have hot sun all year round.

Yes, it is a Porsche accessory that is placed inside the windshield and held in place by the visors.

I live in the Central Valley of California. Unless one uses a sunshade over the front window the UV radiation will damage the material over the top of the instrument panel and eventually may cause it to split, as I learned the hard way after I moved to this area.

I did some research, but I also had a 2016 Tesla Model S with a panoramic sunroof that lived outside with no tint and never had anything crack, leather still looked new.
