They all have gearboxes, as there's no EVs that are effectively direct drive from the motor shaft to the wheels. It's just not a gearbox that requires manual input or selection of ratios. They are either fixed ratio units or multi-ratio units like the rear-axle transmission in the Taycan.

Motors that have a rev range from 0 to 20,000+ rpm need gearing down, somehow.

Yeah I pay little credence to the 'factual' aspects claimed on motoring TV programmes. Maybe its the decades long influence of fluff like Top Gear...
