California Carpool stickers

For everyone in California, have you received your carpool decal sticker? How ugly do they look when you attach to the bumper?

I applied more than 6 weeks ago but I have not received them yet. I remember when I leased a hybrid in 2018 the stickers arrived much faster.

The stickers are definitely ugly. I seriously considered not putting them on the car but sometimes those carpool lanes are very useful. I got mine last summer. I think it took about a month from application.

I applied in first week of January and they haven't even cashed my check yet.

I am not sure if they are behind or it is the post office (a friend just got a Christmas card that I sent two weeks before Christmas).

They haven't cashed my check either and I mailed it end of 2020.
On the positive the stickers this year are blue and look slightly better than the orange ones.

I also mailed in Jan with nothing back yet. With everything turning into Express Lanes, I may not even bother with them when they arrive. Not that they'd stick to the ceramic coating anyway

I think you ride toll free or with a discount in some Express lanes with an EV https://www.bayareafastrak.org/en/support/express-lanes-faq10.shtml

It's 50% toll with a sticker on 237 by me, and they're doing something to 101 now, and it'll probably be bad too. It takes 2 people in the car + EV to ride toll free. I think 880 might be the same.

Don't need the sticker for Express Lanes, just need the Flex CAV Fastrak transponder.

If you're putting the stickers on your Taycan, I highly recommend getting a PPF base to put under the sticker. Someone else on the forum (apologies, I forget who) actually turned me on to these, which I've used on our other EVs:

Do we need to wait till I receive the license plates or Can I put the temporary license pate # in the application?
I just got my Taycan last Saturday so not sure if I can apply for Carpool sticker now or need to wait for it

Correct and that is probably why the dealer cannot apply for the stickers when you buy the car.

Nope

I have road-tripped from the Bay Area to Vegas twice already though, so at least if you wanna go somewhere, there's plenty of chargers.

For a CA Clean Air Vehicle sticker, the car has to be registered in California. Though it doesn't say so explicitly in the eligibility requirements, the forms stipulate that the info your provide must match CA DMV records, which means you're out of luck if you're not in their system.
