Have had my taycan for 2 years - great car (with the exception of a few warranty covered issues). Always get the itch for a change after a couple years and decided to make a change to the RS e-tron.

The major force driving the change is the crazy incentives for the e-tron right now. Close to 50k off from MSRP, when taking into account Audi and dealer contributions. Yes, I know they are still making money, but seems like a reasonable move in the setting of continued massive Taycan deprecation.

I’m going to lease this time instead of buying - taking the value uncertainty out of the eqution.

Hope I enjoy it as much as the Taycan!

Makes sense. Would love to see pictures of your new ride and first hand impressions on the differences.

Although I have not owned an RS variant of the eTron GT, I did have 2x "base" Audi eTron GT vehicles, which are in essence Taycan 4S vehicles. I did have a Taycan Turbo, which would be similar to the RS eTron GT. So in essence I've driven them all.

My quick take was that the Porsche steering just feels better, and the sight lines are better. I'll be curious to hear if you find the same. That said, the interior of the Audi felt more "normal" and I loved having real buttons. Though that volume touch pad was horrible to use in reality, but the HVAC controls were great.

My issue was that the GT felt, well, like a GT. I was surprised how different the two drove, and the eTron just felt bigger, hefty, and supple. But when pushed hard, it felt heavier than the Taycan does. In a perfect world I'd want the front end of the Porsche, the rear end of the Audi, the interior of the Audi, and the underpinnings of the Taycan 4S (steering, braking, etc).

Let us know how you get on! :) Congrats ... some nice lease deals right now, for sure. Hope you aren't taking too bad a hit on your Taycan, though --

Not really....

$50k off new... "in the face of massive Taycan depreciation"...
Yes, I could continue to make payments and hope the deprecation curve for the taycan flattens soon. I know I’m losing some by selling the taycan at this time but also taking advantage of steep discounts on the RS. Having a significantly less payment over the next 3 yrs will make for a nice down payment on the next car purchase

Its worst point is also it’s best point.
Looks like an A7. Nothing like as eye catching as Taycan but understated Q car, under the radar, less flash, less attention is a good thing too.

Just remember you can’t turn the artificial noise off in an Etron GT. Make sure you like it.
Enjoy.
Loving the value.
You can lease an Etron GT in Uk for £10,000 down and £800 a month.
(4 years)
Bargain compared with Taycan.

Definitely some loss but not crazy. I purchased at MSRP before the 9-10k increase 1-1.5 yrs ago. Was also fortunate to be able to get the 7500 tax break before the exclusion for income/purchase price thresholds changed

Sounds like you did good then! Congrats. My first Taycan 4S was small profit sold during early "pandemic pricing" (bought at MSRP less tax credit, so similar to you). Subsequently though ALL my J1-platform Audi/Porsche have been used to let someone else take the depreciation hit ;)

What color combo is the RS? I'm partial to that gorgeous red leather option Audi offers, yummy!

Daytona grey with black interior. Like the red interior as well but these cars a being snatched up quickly in US. Wouldn’t be surprised that the incentives lessen as supply decreases.

My Makes Sense comment was in the context of someone willing to pay to get a new ride. I agree, that it does not make sense in the totally rational world of taking a big loss on the Taycan to get into a deal on a new toy like e-tron GT. This is a pay to play with a new toy cost.

I am in the category to pay and to hold, so I am not worried about depreciation. I paid full price, waited 18 months for it, then driven it for about 6 months, and probably lost half in the current steep depreciation market on top of the refresh announcement. This is my pay to play.

Agree totally - the is in the setting of the itch for a change. Would not even remotely consider if the deal on the back end wasn’t so good. The loss on the taycan during the steep portion of the depreciation curve is offset by the very good deal on the RS.
