We drove from Lake Como to Austria today. In stead of going by the highway I decided to take the Stelvio. I was fortunate today because the road was relatively calm for a Saturday. Also nice experience taking the Taghetto from Menaggio to Varenna. Lots of attention for the Taycan.
Great car for these kind of roads. Last weekend we did the Oberalp, Julier and Maloja. The Maloja is also really nice to drive.
This region is worth the trip for doing mountain passes. Last year I did the Gotthard and Susten.

I'll be there in Sept for our next road-trip – thanks for giving us a taste! I'm jealous of the compass over the sports chrono – wish it was an option on every car – it feels very roadtrip friendly!

I notice – like me – you have Bip & Go toll device. Did it work well for you in Italy ?

I didn’t have to use it this year but it worked perfectly last year. You do need the latest version. I had a 5 year old one and changed it last year at a bip and go office at a peage.

If you don’t have it yet, the Enel X RFID card is good to have in Italy. My Porsche card was accepted but it wouldn’t start charging.

Yes the compass is nice, the elevation meter even more. 200 meters at the lake and 2754 at the top. I gained 9% charge just driving down.

Did Stelvio and more back in 2014 no less when I picked up my M4 convertible in a Euro delivery gig - really enjoyed it and would love to do it all again in a Taycan but prob not going to happen -thx for bringing up the memories :)

Oh that's interesting to know. I had the app (JuicePass) but wasn't going to bother ordering the card – because they are a partner with the Porsche Charging Service. I'll order it now – because I hate relying on mobile apps – especially in remote areas due to cell signal.

I believe that EnelX and Porsche are only partners very recently – last few weeks – so it sounds like there are still some teething issues.

This is amazing. I love the road trip stories - especially the detailed one by Tigerbalm.

Do you have any ABRP maps of your trip ?

Great write up; road looks amazing.

just out of curiosity, does your Taycan have rws, and if so did you notice a benefit from it over any previoustrips you’ve done along the same route on non-rws cars?

reason I ask is I am struggling to make my mind up whether to add it before my freeze date

can only find the app to download, not how to order the card. Anyone who has a link?

I ordered the card via the app today. But if you have only signed up to an account – it takes a day or so for them to manually approve the plan you've chosen.

The order card option only shows after you get that approval email.

Why so convoluted – dunno ?

Another member (also a Dubliner, if I remember well) suggested Telepass vs. Bip and Go. I do not remember why. For sure Telepass works flawlessly in Italy and France. You can also use it for accessing many private Parkings all over Italy and for the restricted traffic area in Milan. It also allows to board the ferry to and from Sicily (I am sure that you will need it sooner or later :) )

I've made a trip in Tuscany , with the Porsche card and Juice app.
When you approch an Enel charger , your are recognized immediatly .
You can then start charging without scanning any qr code ...
No problem

Great pictures and good description. This year, on our trip to Italy, we choose the Gross Glockner pass. It was nice, but Stelvio seems more dramatic...

Actually the charger was by Has-to-be GmbH. They have five 75 Kw chargers on five different locations the north side of the Stelvio. I only realized it afterwards, maybe my shell car would have worked too.

The location in Graun is nice because you can take a walk around the lake for 30 minutes. On top of the Stelvio you can check what chargers are available.

Last week I saw some posts on the Dutch Facebook page where people had trouble charging in Italy and only the Enel X card worked. I wouldn’t rely on the app in the mountains. Cellphone coverage might be an issue.
