My 4s went for its first service today and the dealership rang to advise both cooling fans have seized and need replacing.
Its covered under the warranty - but has anyone else had similar issues?

I had one seize on my Cayman. I couldn’t hear the left front running. A small rock had jammed the fan and a quick flick of reverse fan direction cleared it and hasn’t been a problem since.

Absolutely push for warranty and an explanation as to what caused it - grit / dirt ingress (design flaw if so)?

Why aren't these things monitored by a sensor (?) same question for the heater??

Hi Winge, ( you have to change this name haha)
to me its one of three things, mechanical fault, electrical fault or design fault, not my fault.

Can you imagine a stone getting in here the first day of ownership , failing and the dealer saying , sorry your on your own.

Thank you for the picture, whats your opinion regarding the design
of these.
I only clocked it last weekend when the front tyre was off getting replaced. I was pretty surprised it seems open to muck, stones and just about everything else getting thrown off the tyre inside the arch.

I’m no car designer and certainly no expert on this design and whether it’s good or indifferent.

Just seems quite vulnerable to my untrained eyes.

That looks like stupid design, imagine driving a Cross Turismo off-road, poor fans will get hit by debris, maybe its different design in that one.

No, it's the same design, I am going to fit some louverd grills to reduce the amount of dirt ingress!
I’m going to test spin them on a reg basis. If they get jammed will the motor burn out?
